Jaguar describes it as a non-production design-vision concept: a physical statement of its new “Exuberant Modernism” direction. The electric Jaguar customers will eventually be able to buy is a separate four-door GT, planned as the brand’s first production model in this new era.
Why Type 00 looks so unreal
Type 00 is deliberately theatrical. Jaguar’s concept combines a very long hood, a sweeping roof and fastback-to-boat-tail rear with flush body surfaces and 23-inch wheels. Dramatic butterfly doors and a glassless rear tailgate make it read more like a fantasy grand tourer than a conventional electric vehicle.

Jaguar also highlights a body-harmonised glazed roof and horizontal rear “strikethrough” elements. Those details, along with the low nose and exaggerated proportions, are what make the car’s Barbie-like, dream-world appearance feel intentional rather than accidental.
The company’s managing director, Rawdon Glover, described the direction as “fearlessly creative,” while saying it remains true to Jaguar’s DNA and is meant to stand out. That is Jaguar’s positioning, not an independent performance judgment.

The two launch colors are concept treatments, not trims
Jaguar revealed Type 00 in December 2024 in two colors. The nicknames are useful shorthand, but neither color represents a retail version that buyers can configure.

In December 2025, Jaguar also displayed a bespoke “London Red” Type 00 during its 90th-anniversary presentation. That appearance was another presentation of the concept, not evidence of a confirmed production paint range.

Inside: a concept cabin built around materials and movement
Jaguar’s interior description is equally dramatic. The show car uses brass, travertine stone and textiles, with floating instrument panels, deployable screens and a central brass spine running through the cabin.

Type 00 is not the electric Jaguar you can buy
Jaguar’s official Type 00 page labels the vehicle non-production. It is best understood as a design manifesto and preview of the brand’s visual direction, not as a finished model awaiting orders.
The actual production program is a separate all-electric four-door GT. Jaguar’s December 2024 announcement said the car would be built in the United Kingdom and initially targeted a reveal in late 2025. In December 2025, the company moved that stated reveal timing to 2026.

A Wallpaper* report published on 12 August 2026 described official interior images and said the production car was expected to be shown in New York in early October 2026. That is a secondary report about an anticipated future event, not confirmation that the launch had already happened or that the date was officially finalized.

What the range and charging claims actually mean
Jaguar and JLR said in 2024 that the future production model was projected to deliver up to 430 miles (692 km) of EPA range. They also projected up to 200 miles (321 km) of range in 15 minutes when rapid charging.

Both figures were forward-looking estimates explicitly subject to final testing. They are not independent road-test results, measured real-world performance or confirmed final specifications. Until Jaguar publishes homologated figures for the production GT, treat them as targets rather than promises.
How the concept and production car relate
What Type 00 establishes
- The visual language Jaguar wants its next-generation cars to use.
- A preference for dramatic proportions, minimal surfaces and highly curated materials.
- Color and design references that connect future electric Jaguars with the company’s history.
What it does not establish
- A purchase price, order date or production allocation.
- Final battery size, power output, dimensions or charging hardware.
- That the butterfly doors, stone surfaces or deployable screens will appear on the four-door GT.
Bottom line for shoppers and Jaguar fans
Type 00 earns the “real-life Barbie fever dream” description because Jaguar made it unusually expressive: pink or silver-blue paint, a boat-tail silhouette, butterfly doors and an interior staged like a piece of collectible design. But the most important fact is less glamorous and more practical: it is a non-production concept.
The car to watch is Jaguar’s separate electric four-door GT, whose reveal was placed in 2026 by the company’s December 2025 update. Its final specifications, pricing and availability remain distinct from the Type 00 show car.
