Jaguar’s first new-generation production EV is the Type 01, a luxury four-door electric GT unveiled in New York on 6 October 2026. It is not the Type 00 concept shown in 2024: Type 00 previewed the design direction, while Type 01 is the production car built on Jaguar’s dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA). Jaguar expects UK orders to open in early 2027, with first deliveries in the second half of 2027. The announced UK starting price is £130,000; Jaguar’s US page lists a starting MSRP of $130,500.
What is the Jaguar Type 01?
Type 01 is an all-electric, four-door luxury GT and Jaguar’s first production car on its dedicated JEA platform. Jaguar says the car was designed, engineered and crafted in the UK. The company describes the model as the beginning of a new generation, rather than a production version of an existing Jaguar.
The name carries Jaguar’s stated symbolism: “Type” connects the car to the marque’s earlier models, “0” represents electric propulsion and zero tailpipe emissions, and “1” marks the first Jaguar of the new era. Rawdon Glover, Jaguar’s managing director, said: “In Jaguar Type 01, the ‘0’ represents electric propulsion and zero tailpipe emissions; ‘1’ denotes its status as the first Jaguar of a new era.” Jaguar’s May 2026 naming announcement introduced the name before the car’s public reveal.
How Type 01 differs from Type 00
Type 00 was a design vision concept, unveiled at Miami Art Week on 3 December 2024. It previewed the styling direction and the idea of a UK-built electric four-door GT; it was not the production vehicle. Jaguar named the production-intent car Type 01 in May 2026 and unveiled it in October. The Type 00 announcement included early concept-era range and charging estimates, but those figures should not be treated as Type 01 specifications. The production car’s current announced figures are separate manufacturer estimates.

Type 01 range and charging claims
Jaguar’s US page lists a 118-kWh usable battery and an anticipated range of up to 400 miles under the EPA cycle. It also estimates up to 320 miles during sustained 75-mph highway driving. Jaguar says the range figures await full certification and that real-world results may differ. The US product page is the source for these market-specific claims.
Jaguar says a 350-kW rapid DC charger can add up to 200 miles in as little as 13 minutes. Its international page expresses the same claim as up to 321 km in 13 minutes. These are best-case manufacturer claims, not a promise of a fixed charging time: battery state, temperature and charger conditions affect the result. Jaguar’s international Type 01 page also lists anticipated range of up to 450 miles / 720 km WLTP, alongside the up-to-400-mile EPA estimate. EPA and WLTP figures use different test cycles and should not be read as equivalent measures.

Power, acceleration and engineering
The headline power figures are consistent when expressed in different units, but Jaguar presents acceleration using different endpoints for different markets:
| Market presentation | Power and torque | Acceleration claim |
|---|---|---|
| United States | Up to 1,015 hp (1,030 PS) and 1,007 lb-ft (1,365 Nm) | 0–60 mph in 3.1 seconds |
| International | Up to 1,030 PS and 1,365 Nm | 0–62 mph (0–100 km/h) in 3.2 seconds |
These are figures published by Jaguar, not independent test results. The acceleration claims are not directly interchangeable because one ends at 60 mph and the other at 62 mph / 100 km/h. Jaguar’s US page lists the US figures; the international page gives the international presentation.

Jaguar describes Type 01 as having tri-motor propulsion, intelligent torque vectoring, dynamic air suspension and active twin-valve dampers. The company says software can respond to changing power demands in as little as one millisecond. These are manufacturer descriptions of the engineering, not independent assessments of how the car drives. Vehicle Engineering Director Matt Becker said the aim was to balance performance and comfort: “At its best, Jaguar has always delivered two characters – performance and comfort – in perfect harmony and our new luxury GT is no different.” Further details appear in Jaguar’s engineering announcement.
Exterior, cabin and luggage space
The production car retains the concept’s dramatic long-bonnet, low-roof GT proportions, with four doors. Jaguar’s cabin description focuses on a longitudinal central spine that divides the interior into four individual spaces. The listed features include a 24-inch single-glass OLED driver display, a seven-inch central touchscreen, a full-width Panoramic Soundbar and a ClearSight rear-view display. Chief Interior Designer Thomas Holden described the spine as “an architectural statement that creates four individual spaces.” Jaguar revealed the interior in August 2026; its description is available in the cabin announcement.

What Jaguar’s journey statistic means
Jaguar says its analysis found that Type 01 could complete 99.7% of customer journeys without interruption. The figure is based on JLR’s analysis of journey data from 920,000 individual JLR vehicles across 51 markets between October 2023 and October 2024. It is manufacturer analysis of customer journeys, not a guarantee for every Type 01 owner or a measured result from Type 01 drivers. Jaguar’s reveal release provides the claim and its data-basis announcement describes the underlying dataset.
