These figures come from different kinds of sources and are not a like-for-like test. The specifications and prices should be checked against the exact market, model year and trim before making a purchase decision.
How much do the J5 EV and VT9 cost?
The paultan.org comparison page lists the JAECOO J5 EV at RM118,800 and the Jetour VT9 at RM119,350, a reported difference of RM550. Treat these as publisher-reported figures, not verified current dealer quotations: the comparison page could not be opened, and vehicle prices can change.
The official Jetour Malaysia flyer says its prices apply to specified Malaysian regions and dates and may change. The Malaysian JAECOO price list located for the J5 is for the J5 2WD, not the J5 EV, so it does not establish the EV’s Malaysian price. Ask an authorized local dealer for a written, current quotation covering the exact trim, taxes, registration, insurance and availability.

JAECOO Indonesia lists its J5 EV at IDR 279,900,000 for Standard and IDR 329,900,000 for Premium on its official product page. Those are Indonesian-market prices, not Malaysian prices, and should not be compared directly with the ringgit amounts.

Choose the J5 EV if charging works for you
The J5 EV is the battery-electric option. The comparison page reports a 58.9 kWh battery and 402 km claimed range, but the official Indonesian JAECOO page reviewed here confirms neither figure. Do not assume that battery capacity or range applies to every market or trim without checking local specifications.

Choose the VT9 if you need seven seats and petrol refueling
The VT9 pairs a 1.5L turbo petrol engine with a six-speed DCT. Jetour Automobile Malaysia’s flyer lists output at 156 PS and 230 Nm. Petrol refueling may better suit a driver who does not want to plan around charging, while the third row gives the VT9 its clearest practical advantage for carrying more people.

JAECOO Indonesia gives the J5 EV 480 L of rear cargo volume, rising to 1,180 L with the second row folded, plus a 35 L front trunk. These are figures published for the Indonesian model; confirm the local vehicle’s configuration and measurement method.

The Jetour Malaysia flyer lists a rear camera and 360-degree surround-view parking assistance for the VT9; blind-spot detection, door-open warning and lane-change warning are listed for the Prime trim only. Equipment can vary by market and trim, so compare the specification sheets for the exact cars being quoted.

- Pick the JAECOO J5 EV if you want a five-seat electric SUV, can make charging fit your routine, and value the cargo figures published for the Indonesian model—after verifying the local specification and price.
- Pick the Jetour VT9 if you need seven seats or prefer petrol refueling, and the local trim’s equipment and current quotation meet your needs.
- Compare before deciding if price is the deciding factor. The reported RM550 gap is small, but it is not a confirmed, current like-for-like Malaysian dealer comparison.
For either vehicle, also ask about local after-sales support and confirm what the quoted trim includes. The available sources do not establish equivalent ownership costs, fuel economy, charging costs or service coverage, so those need to be checked for your location and circumstances.
