Italdesign’s Honda NSX Tribute was unveiled at Tokyo Auto Salon 2026, held January 9–11 at Makuhari Messe in Japan. The project is presented by Italdesign as a Honda-recognized, right-hand-drive, ultra-limited “few-off,” but the item listed at the show was a static hard-resin model—not a complete, drivable car.
What is Italdesign’s Honda NSX Tribute?
Italdesign describes the NSX Tribute as a contemporary, tailor-made few-off that takes its visual cues from the first-generation Honda NSX. The company says it led the project end to end, covering styling, engineering and the planned ultra-limited production, and that the car is exclusively right-hand drive. Italdesign’s project page dates the project to 2025.
The design is intended to recall the original NSX while giving the cockpit a contemporary interpretation of the first-generation car’s interior. Italdesign frames the project as a tribute rather than a restomod; its whitepaper landing page says the project is not a concept without production intent and describes it as engineered to current standards. Those are Italdesign’s statements about the project, not a published set of complete vehicle specifications.
When and where was it revealed?
Italdesign announced the debut in December 2025. The unveiling took place at Tokyo Auto Salon 2026, January 9–11, at Makuhari Messe’s North Hall 11, booth 1102, according to Italdesign’s announcement. The event’s official vehicle entry lists it under exhibitor MR HIRO CAR STUDIO × ITALDESIGN.

Was the exhibit a complete, drivable car?
No. The Tokyo Auto Salon vehicle listing identifies the displayed item as a hard-resin model. It says the model had no interior or suspension system and was not for sale or public-road use. The listing therefore describes the exhibit, not a road-ready customer vehicle.
There is an important distinction between that show object and the broader project. Italdesign’s whitepaper page calls the project production-ready and says design intent, aerodynamic constraints, production logic and homologation requirements were considered together. The show listing, however, records a static model. The available official material does not establish that a full-size customer car is already on sale or provide an order route.

What does the design pay tribute to?
The styling references the first-generation NSX, whose launch the Tokyo Auto Salon description dates to 1990. That description connects the Tribute to three Honda milestones: the company’s first Formula One win in 1965, the NSX’s 1990 launch, and a 1995 Le Mans 24 Hours victory. It also invokes the original NSX’s aluminum monocoque, VTEC engine and ambition to challenge leading European sports cars. These milestones and characterizations are the show’s framing of the project.

The show listing provides a few details for the exhibited model, but they should not be mistaken for the final specification of a full-size production car.

The official pages do not state a production quantity, price, powertrain, power output, acceleration, top speed, full-size dimensions or customer ordering details. A performance comparison with the original NSX or other modern sports cars would therefore be speculative.
