Not officially. As of October 8, 2026, Toyota has not confirmed that it will revive the Previa, or announced any powertrain, specifications, launch date, or U.S. availability. Reports have described a possible electric and plug-in hybrid minivan, but those details remain unconfirmed.
What the reports say about a new Previa
The revival story began with a December 2024 report attributed to Japan’s Best Car magazine. Green Car Reports said the report relied on an anonymous Toyota source, rather than a public announcement from the automaker. It described a possible 2026 launch, Toyota’s TNGA-K platform, and battery-electric and plug-in hybrid versions. The report also said a hydrogen fuel-cell version had been considered and dropped. These are reported possibilities, not confirmed product plans. Green Car Reports’ December 2024 account did not address U.S. sales.
An October 6, 2026, Autoblog feature continued to frame a return as a possibility and said Toyota had not confirmed the vehicle, its specifications, its launch date, or potential North American availability. Its references to TNGA-K and EV and PHEV configurations remain part of the report, not Toyota’s announced specifications.
Will the Previa be electric or a plug-in hybrid?
The media reports describe both a battery-electric version and a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) as possibilities. Toyota has not confirmed either configuration for a Previa. No Previa-specific battery size, electric range, charging rate, fuel economy, performance, or passenger and cargo layout is established in the reviewed coverage.

Toyota’s general explanation of its PHEVs is useful context, but not evidence of a Previa’s design: the company says, “PHEVs can use their electric-motor-only cruising range for most of their daily travels.” That description applies to Toyota’s PHEVs generally, not to a rumored minivan or any particular range. Toyota’s PHEV overview does not provide Previa-specific details.
Is a new Previa coming to the U.S.?
U.S. availability is unknown. The initial report did not specify the U.S. market, and the October 2026 coverage says Toyota has not confirmed a North American launch. There is no announced U.S. release date or market-specific specification to rely on.
