A used Volkswagen Golf Alltrack can be a good value if you want a compact wagon with standard all-wheel drive, a turbocharged engine and an available manual transmission. But there is no single “2025 price” that makes every example a bargain: mileage, condition, history, trim, equipment and local asking prices all matter. The available valuation snapshots vary and do not establish a 2025 transaction average.
What a 2019 Golf Alltrack offers
For U.S. buyers, Kelley Blue Book lists the 2019 Alltrack in S, SE and SEL trims. Each pairs a 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with standard all-wheel drive and either a six-speed manual or six-speed dual-clutch automatic. KBB lists EPA fuel economy of 21/30 to 22/30 mpg city/highway, depending on trim and equipment. See Kelley Blue Book’s 2019 Golf Alltrack specifications and equipment.
Equipment varies by trim and options. KBB lists the S with features including heated front seats and mirrors, smartphone integration, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking. Higher trims can add items such as a panoramic sunroof, a larger infotainment screen, additional driver-assistance equipment, a power-adjustable seat, dual-zone climate control, premium audio and navigation.
Canadian specifications should be considered separately: Volkswagen Canada’s buyer’s guide for the 2019 model lists the Highline with a 1.8 TSI rated at 168 hp and a six-speed manual or DSG automatic with 4MOTION. The guide is dated December 7, 2018; its Highline trim and specifications do not map one-to-one to U.S. S, SE and SEL versions. Volkswagen Canada’s owners-literature page provides the buyer’s guide.

What the price estimates say—and what they don’t
The available valuation pages give different estimates rather than one definitive market price. Kelley Blue Book’s search-result snapshot listed fair-purchase estimates of $19,200 for the S, $19,050 for the SE and $18,150 for the SEL, against original MSRPs of $28,150, $31,750 and $37,350, respectively. The opened KBB page later showed FAQ estimates ranging from $18,250 for the SEL to $19,500 for the SE. These are source-page estimates, not confirmed sale prices or a 2025 transaction average. Edmunds gives an illustrative estimated range of $9,050–$23,993 for used 2019 Alltracks, depending on condition, mileage and options. For a vehicle with no options driven about 12,000 miles a year, its example estimates approximately $13,168 in clean-condition trade-in value and $16,771 for a private-party sale. The spread between estimates is a reason to compare vehicles carefully, not to assume that one trim or one guide establishes what a car should cost. A lower asking price may reflect condition or history; a higher trim’s original equipment does not automatically make it the better used buy.
Why buyers may like it—and what may disappoint
Car and Driver’s review of the 2018 Alltrack praises its handling, practical interior, standard AWD and raised ground clearance. Its editorial verdict was: “Nearly as fun to drive as other Golf models, the Golf Alltrack is a great choice for buyers who need more space and extra ground clearance.” The review also identifies middling infotainment and SUV-like styling as drawbacks. How to judge a specific Alltrack
- Match comparable cars. Compare the same model year and trim where possible, then account for mileage, transmission and major options.
- Check the individual car’s history and condition. Review service and accident records, and arrange an inspection before treating an asking price as a bargain.
- Compare local prices with more than one valuation guide. Use KBB and Edmunds as reference points, then compare listings with similar mileage, equipment and condition in your area.
- Verify service and recall history independently. The available sources do not establish recall status, model-specific failure rates, average repair costs or total cost of ownership.
Are owner ratings proof of reliability?
No. KBB reports a 4.6/5 owner reliability rating, and Cars.com reports 4.8/5 from consumer reviews. These are self-selected owner-review scores, not independent reliability studies and not evidence that a particular used Alltrack is trouble-free. Cars.com’s Golf Alltrack consumer reviews.
