No. As of October 8, 2026, the federal new clean vehicle tax credit is unavailable for a Tesla Model Y acquired after September 30, 2025. A buyer who met the IRS contract-and-payment test by that date may still be able to claim the credit after taking delivery, provided the other requirements are met. This cutoff applies to specified federal vehicle credits; it does not establish that every state, local, or utility EV incentive has ended.
Is the Tesla Model Y tax credit still available?
For a Model Y acquired after September 30, 2025, the federal new clean vehicle credit is not available. The IRS says the credit does not apply to vehicles acquired after that date. The same acquisition cutoff applies to the federal used clean vehicle and qualified commercial clean vehicle credits. IRS guidance on the program changes explains the deadlines.
The headline claim that the federal government has ended “all EV subsidies” is too broad. The cited federal sources establish the end dates for specified vehicle credits and a separate charging-property credit; they do not establish that every federal incentive or every state, local, and utility program has ended.
Could a later delivery still qualify?
Potentially. For the September 30, 2025 cutoff, the IRS says acquisition requires both a written binding contract and a payment by that date. A nominal down payment or trade-in may count as payment. A vehicle order, refundable reservation, or delivery estimate by itself does not establish that the test was met.

- 【PRECISE FIT FOR 2025-2026 MODEL Y JUNIPER】: Custom-designed for 5-seat Tesla Model Y Juniper Premium and Performance models. Not compatible with Model Y Standard, Model Y L, or 7-seat configurations. Please verify your vehicle version before ordering (You can refer to the third image in the main product gallery to verify compatibility)
- 【IMPORTANT: SHIPPING CREASE RECOVERY】: Due to compact packaging during shipping, your floor mats or cargo liners may arrive with temporary folds or creases. This is normal and does not indicate a product defect. Please see our dedicated crease recovery video in the main product video section for step-by-step instructions. Simply unroll the mats, lay them flat in a warm environment, and allow them to recover naturally. For stubborn creases, gently warm the affected area with a hair dryer on low heat while smoothing it by hand. Do not use high heat or place the heat source directly against the mat. Most creases will gradually disappear with proper recovery and normal use.
- 【8-PIECE FULL-CABIN PROTECTION】: Includes front and rear floor mats, Integrated Trunk and Seatback Mat, frunk mat, rear storage mat, and trunk bumper protector. One complete set helps protect more of your Tesla Model Y interior from daily dirt, spills, and wear.
- 【ALL-WEATHER PROTECTION】: Raised edges and deep grooves help contain water, mud, snow, sand, and other debris, keeping messes from spreading onto your vehicle's carpet. Designed for everyday driving in changing weather conditions.
- 【PREMIUM TPE WITH COMFORTABLE 3-LAYER DESIGN】: Made from odorless, flexible TPE that is soft yet durable. The multi-layer construction provides waterproof, anti-slip, and sound-dampening performance while maintaining a clean, factory-inspired look.
If the buyer met that contract-and-payment test by September 30, 2025, the IRS says the credit may be claimed when the vehicle is placed in service, even if that occurs later. The IRS defines that point as when the buyer takes possession. The buyer must also satisfy the other applicable requirements.
How the federal deadlines differ
| Federal program | Relevant deadline | What the date applies to |
|---|---|---|
| New, used, and qualified commercial clean vehicle credits | September 30, 2025 | Vehicle acquisition; the IRS transition rule may permit a later delivery if the buyer met the binding-contract-and-payment test by the deadline. |
| Qualifying refueling and recharging property credit | June 30, 2026 | Property placed in service; the IRS says the credit is unavailable for property placed in service after this date. |
Both dates have passed as of October 8, 2026. The charging-property credit has its own placed-in-service deadline; it is not the vehicle acquisition deadline.

What the 2025 Model Y eligibility list means
The IRS’s historical 2025 clean-vehicle table listed certain Model Y configurations with a $7,500 credit and an $80,000 vehicle price limit. Those figures describe the listed configurations under the rules then in effect. They do not make the credit available for a vehicle acquired after September 30, 2025. See the IRS-listed federal vehicle eligibility table.
How to check for other incentives
State, local, and utility incentives are separate from the federal vehicle credit, and their availability depends on location and program rules. Check the relevant state energy office, local government, and electric utility for current terms. Do not assume an incentive remains open—or has ended—based solely on the federal cutoff.
