Those figures compare Porsche models only; they do not establish which car sold best across all brands or which sports car led the U.S. market.
What the U.S. figures show
Porsche Cars North America reported 76,219 total U.S. retail deliveries for 2025. Within Porsche’s lineup, the Macan led with 27,139 deliveries, while the 911 recorded 13,574. The company’s reporting period ran from January 3, 2025, through January 2, 2026, so these are the company’s reported U.S. retail-delivery figures for that period, not a measure of every vehicle sold nationwide.
The figures answer a narrow question: the 911 was not Porsche’s top-selling U.S. model line for the reported period. They do not rank the 911 against all brands or establish a ranking among sports cars. Porsche Cars North America’s U.S. sales release provides the model-line totals and period dates.
How the worldwide numbers compare
Porsche’s fiscal 2025 annual report also places the Macan ahead of the 911 in the company’s global model-line figures. It lists 79,769 Macans and 52,208 911s sold, out of 265,663 total vehicles sold by the Porsche AG Group. These are annual-report vehicle-sales figures; they should not be silently treated as customer deliveries.

A separate Porsche AG release reports worldwide customer deliveries in 2025: 279,449 vehicles in total, including 84,328 Macans. The company said the 911 set a delivery record, but a record for the 911 does not mean it outsold the Macan. Sales and deliveries are distinct reported measures, so the totals should not be combined into one comparison.
- Porsche AG’s fiscal 2025 annual report gives vehicle sales by model line.
- Porsche AG’s January 16, 2026 delivery release reports customer deliveries worldwide.
Why “best-selling car” needs a market and a category
“Best-selling” can mean the leading model within Porsche’s lineup, the top-selling vehicle across all brands in a country, or the leader in a narrower class such as sports cars. Those are different rankings. The cited U.S. figures compare Porsche model lines, while the worldwide figures compare Porsche model lines globally; neither is an all-brand ranking or a sports-car-only ranking.

A precise claim therefore needs three details: the country or market, the period, and the comparison set. It also needs a consistent measure, such as vehicle sales or customer deliveries. Without those details, the headline’s broad claim cannot be verified.
