Rear axle seal and final-drive leaks
RepairPal describes rear axle seal leakage in connection with overheating or inadequate venting. For 2016–2024 Titan and Titan XD, Nissan’s service bulletin NTB24-007, dated January 22, 2024, tells technicians to locate the leak and repair its source where possible before replacing the rear final-drive assembly. Potential sources listed include the pinion seal, axle-tube seal, ABS rear-wheel sensor, wheel-bearing seal, carrier-cover gasket, and drain plug.
Nissan states: “A Rear Final Drive Assembly should not be replaced unless bearing, gear, or other significant damage has occurred.” A leak by itself therefore does not establish that the complete assembly needs replacement. This is technician service guidance, not a do-it-yourself repair procedure.

Catalytic-converter damage and fuel-pump concerns
RepairPal’s problem descriptions associate catalytic-converter damage with a weak or failing fuel pump, and separately list fuel-pump failures after extended driving. Nissan bulletin NTB19-057 describes a diagnostic sequence that includes a cylinder-wall inspection. If cylinder-wall scuffing is found under the specified diagnostic conditions, the bulletin directs replacement of the short engine assembly. Nissan campaign PD128/PD129 covers certain 2016–2019 Titan Diesel vehicles manufactured from August 7, 2015 through December 4, 2019. Nissan’s communication says the corrective action is performed without charge for parts and labor on affected vehicles. Coverage is limited to certain trucks, so check the individual VIN and confirm whether the remedy has been completed; the model year alone does not establish eligibility.
