Lexus first showed the car as the Lexus Sport Concept in 2025, then announced it as the all-electric Lexus LFA Concept on December 5, 2025. The name and stated engineering heritage connect it to the original LFA, but Lexus has not announced that the concept will enter production.
Was the Lexus Sport Concept renamed the LFA Concept?
Yes. Lexus says the car’s exterior and interior were first shown as the Lexus Sport Concept at Monterey Car Week 2025 and the Japan Mobility Show 2025. On December 5, 2025, the company announced the same concept under the name Lexus LFA Concept, along with partial specifications. Lexus’s announcement identifies it as a concept model, not a production-car launch.
So “the next LFA” is fair if it means the next concept carrying the LFA name and its stated engineering legacy. It goes too far if it means Lexus has confirmed a new production LFA.
What Lexus has confirmed about the LFA Concept
It is an electric sports-car concept
Lexus describes the LFA Concept as a battery-electric vehicle (BEV) sports-car concept. The announcement does not give battery capacity, motor output, range, charging performance, or acceleration figures. Its published dimensions are concept specifications
Lexus lists the concept at 4,690 mm long, 2,040 mm wide, and 1,195 mm high, with a 2,725 mm wheelbase and seating for two. These are manufacturer-published specifications for the concept, not a guarantee that a production car would have the same dimensions. Lexus’s announcement
The design brief emphasizes structure, balance, and driver focus
Lexus highlights a low center of gravity, low weight with high rigidity, aerodynamic performance, and a lightweight, high-rigidity all-aluminum body frame. It says the LFA Concept is being developed alongside the GR GT and GR GT3, sharing development techniques and aspirations while exploring what a BEV sports car can offer. Lexus’s announcement

The manufacturer also describes a driver-focused cockpit, steering designed to avoid regripping, and switches intended for blind-touch operation. Those are Lexus’s stated design aims, not independent findings from a road test.
How it differs from the original Lexus LFA
The clearest difference is propulsion. Toyota’s October 2009 announcement identified the original LFA as a two-seat supercar with a 4.8-liter V10. Lexus calls the new concept a BEV sports car. Toyota’s original LFA announcement

The meaningful continuity is not a shared engine or confirmed production lineage. Lexus says the LFA name represents a vehicle embodying technologies engineers should preserve and pass to the next generation, and is not limited to internal-combustion vehicles. Not according to the announcement reviewed. Lexus identifies the vehicle as a concept and provides selected specifications, but does not announce production, a release date, pricing, or availability. Those details remain unconfirmed; the concept’s name and specifications alone do not establish that a road-going successor will be built.
