Royal Enfield’s current specifications show the Continental GT 650 making 47.4 PS (34.9 kW), matching the Bear 650’s published peak power—not proving that the GT is the most powerful Royal Enfield ever. The company has called the GT the “lightest, fastest, most powerful Royal Enfield in production” in a campaign, but that is a manufacturer claim, and the available official specifications do not establish an all-time ranking.
How much power does the Continental GT 650 make?
Royal Enfield India’s current 2026 Continental GT 650 page lists its 648 cc parallel twin at 47.4 PS (34.9 kW) at 7,150 rpm and 52.3 Nm of torque at 5,150 rpm. A separate Royal Enfield USA technical specification PDF lists maximum power as 34.9 kW at 7,250 rpm. Because the figures come from different market documents, keep their stated engine speeds attached to them rather than combining them into one specification. Does “most powerful ever” hold up?
Royal Enfield’s campaign describes the Continental GT as “the lightest, fastest, most powerful Royal Enfield in production.” That wording is explicitly about the company’s production range in the campaign; it is not independent verification that the GT outranks every Royal Enfield motorcycle ever made. The current official pages also show why the distinction matters: the Bear 650 is listed at the same peak power as the GT, but with higher peak torque. And the available official sources do not provide a complete, consistent historical power record for every Royal Enfield model. The defensible conclusion is that the GT is tied with the Bear 650 on the published peak-power figures cited here; an all-time “most powerful ever” ranking is not established.

Both sets of figures are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent comparisons or ride-test results. The Bear’s greater listed torque does not mean it has greater peak power: the two measurements describe different aspects of engine output. Royal Enfield India Bear 650 specifications

What the claim means for a buyer
If you are comparing these two 650s, peak power alone does not settle which suits you. The GT’s café-racer layout, with low clip-ons and rear-set footpegs, differs from the Bear’s scrambler orientation. Compare the riding position and intended use alongside the published power, torque and engine speeds—and check the specification for the model year and market you are considering. The cited product pages describe the bikes and publish their figures; they do not establish how either performs in an independent road or dyno test.
