No source cited here confirms that a Tesla priced at $25,000 is available. Tesla discussed a more affordable model and a production plan for 2025, but its update named neither a retail vehicle nor a price. The lower-priced Model 3 and Model Y versions reported in the U.S. in October 2025 still started well above $25,000.
What Tesla announced—and what it did not
In its Q2 2025 investor update, Tesla said: “We continue to expand our vehicle offering, including first builds of a more affordable model in June, with volume production planned for the second half of 2025.” The statement described first builds and a production plan; it did not identify a model, publish a price, or say that customers could order or take delivery of a $25,000 car. In April 2024, Reuters reported that Tesla had retreated from more ambitious plans for an all-new vehicle expected to cost $25,000, while the company promised new models based on current platforms and production lines. How the cheaper Model 3 and Model Y compared in October 2025
The Associated Press reported on October 7, 2025, that Tesla had rolled out lower-priced versions of the Model 3 and Model Y in the U.S. The reported starting prices were still thousands of dollars above $25,000:

Why “planned,” “built,” and “available” are different
A company plan to build a vehicle does not establish that it has launched for retail sale. First builds, planned volume production, public ordering, and customer deliveries are distinct milestones. Tesla’s cited Q2 2025 wording confirms only first builds in June and a plan for volume production in the second half of 2025; it does not, by itself, prove orderability or delivery.

Current prices, trims, and order status as of October 4, 2026 are not established by the dated sources above. For a buying decision, check Tesla’s official vehicle configurator for your market and confirm the exact trim, displayed price, and whether orders are open. Do not treat a production target, an old report, or the nickname “Model 2” as proof that a $25,000 Tesla is available: Tesla’s cited update did not name its more affordable model “Model 2.”
