It is not an automatic pick for every driver: the GTS is performance-focused, and a well-equipped example can approach $200,000. Ars Technica reviewer Jonathan M. Gitlin found it especially engaging in ordinary low-speed driving, but his road test is one reviewer’s judgment—not a finding about long-term comfort, reliability, or ownership costs.
What makes the 2025 Carrera GTS a T-Hybrid?
Porsche’s U.S.-market 2025 Carrera GTS pairs a newly developed 3.6-liter flat-six boxer engine with an electrically driven exhaust turbocharger, an electric motor integrated into the PDK transmission, and a compact high-voltage battery. Porsche describes it as a performance hybrid: the electric turbo is intended to build boost response and recover energy, while the transmission motor supplements engine output. It is not a plug-in hybrid designed for electric-only driving.
Porsche Cars North America’s 2024 U.S. launch specifications give the GTS 532 hp and 449 lb-ft of combined output. For the coupe, Porsche claimed 0–60 mph in 2.9 seconds and a 194 mph top track speed. These are manufacturer figures, not measurements from Gitlin’s road test. Porsche’s technical press-kit page lists 10.6–10.1 L/100 km combined fuel consumption under the European WLTP test cycle; that is neither a U.S. EPA rating nor a result measured by the reviewer. How does it work as a daily driver?
Response and road manners
In his August 2025 road test, Gitlin praised the car’s immediate throttle response and its enjoyable, agile behavior on mountain roads. He found it easier to live with at village speeds in Normal mode than the older GTS or 3.0-liter 911s he referenced. Rear-axle steering contributes to agility, though the test does not isolate its effect from the rest of the car.

The test was on public roads, including travel to the Nürburgring 24 event; Gitlin says he did not drive the car on track. He also describes the 911 as lower, smaller, and more animated at high speed than a Panamera, and more content cruising somewhat slower on unrestricted Autobahn stretches. That perspective matters: the review supports a case for responsiveness and engagement, not a controlled ride-comfort comparison.
Cabin, screens, and driver assistance
Gitlin found the compact cabin’s ergonomics suited shorter arms and reported that Apple CarPlay worked adequately. He also noted a useful driver-assistance suite, with one qualification: lane-keep assistance could intrude mid-corner. Buyers should consider how they feel about active assistance systems rather than assuming every intervention will suit their driving style.

Equipment to check on the specific car
Porsche lists rear-axle steering and PASM sport suspension as standard GTS equipment. The optional front-axle lift raises the front by about 1.57 inches at low speeds to help clear ramps and speed bumps. Since lift is optional, verify that a particular car has it if access to steep driveways or tall speed bumps is a concern. The rear seats are also a no-cost option rather than standard, according to Gitlin’s review; check the configuration if you expect to use them.
Which 2025 GTS version fits your needs?
Porsche’s May 2024 U.S. launch release listed several body and drive-layout choices. The Targa was offered only with all-wheel drive. Prices below are original launch MSRPs before options and fees, not as-tested prices or current used-market values.

The 2025 Carrera T starts at $124,900 in Porsche’s launch release and is available with a six-speed manual. Gitlin says it costs more than $40,000 less than the T-Hybrid, while being slower and less powerful. That makes the choice less about a universal winner than about priorities: the GTS offers the T-Hybrid’s strong response and higher performance, while the Carrera T offers a lower launch price and a manual-transmission option. The T’s price is likewise a launch MSRP before options and fees, not a current transaction price.

Who should choose the 2025 Carrera GTS T-Hybrid?
- It is a strong candidate if you want a 911 that feels exceptionally responsive in everyday traffic and lively on winding roads, and you are comfortable with the GTS’s performance focus and price.
- Consider another configuration if you want a manual transmission, which the Carrera T offers, or if the GTS’s launch price leaves too little room for options and fees.
- Check the exact car if you need rear seats or want the front-axle lift for ramps and speed bumps; neither is standard according to the review and equipment information.
- Do not treat the road test as evidence about winter usability, long-term reliability, repair costs, real-world fuel economy, or owner satisfaction. The test does not establish those outcomes.
For the performance-oriented driver who wants immediate response without giving up ordinary-road usability, Gitlin’s review makes a persuasive case for the GTS. Calling it the “best” daily-driver 911 remains a subjective judgment: body style, budget, transmission preference, and equipment needs can point to a different 911.
