Why the “cheaper than the base model” claim is unverified
A valid price comparison needs two prices tied to comparable, clearly identified vehicles and quote conditions. The available reporting gives a price for the Quad but not a matched current base-model price. Without that second figure, there is no defensible price difference to calculate.
Model year, motor configuration, battery and range configuration, included equipment, destination charges, market, and quote date can all affect whether two advertised prices are comparable. The available sources do not supply a complete matched comparison across those details.

Why an old R1S starting price does not settle it
Electrive reported a $78,000 starting price for a 2023 R1S Dual-Motor with the Standard battery in an article dated July 25, 2023. That is a historical price for a specific older configuration, not a current base price. MotorTrend reported that the 2027 Lucid Gravity GT-S has 1,070 hp and starts at $127,750. This offers context for the Quad’s reported output and price, but it is not an R1S base-model comparison: it concerns a different vehicle, and the figures are reported by MotorTrend in its August 13, 2026 article.
