The claim traces to a 2025 report citing unnamed insiders. Tesla has confirmed more affordable Model 3 and Model Y versions, but those are not the rumored smaller car—and their prices and specifications are different.
Did Tesla bring back the Model 2?
Not in any official announcement covered by the available sources. On October 14, 2025, Notebookcheck reported that unnamed insiders said Tesla was reviving variants of its Redwood project, identified as NV91 and NV93. The report described NV91 as a smaller vehicle styled after the Model Y and said it was advanced in development. That remains a secondary report, not confirmation from Tesla. Notebookcheck’s report

What is known about the rumored $25,000 Tesla?
The figures attached to the alleged Model 2 come from the same Notebookcheck report and should be treated as unconfirmed. They are not Tesla specifications or a Tesla launch schedule.

What is the cheapest confirmed Tesla alternative?
Tesla’s confirmed lower-priced offerings are the Model 3 and Model Y Standard. At their U.S. launch in October 2025, Tesla listed the Model 3 Standard from $36,990 and the Model Y Standard from $39,990, with over 300 miles of range for each. By June 2026, Tesla had renamed the entry Model Y Standard simply Model Y, according to Car and Driver. Its July 2026 review listed that entry rear-wheel-drive model at $41,630 at the time. How does the entry Model Y compare with the rumored Model 2?

The Model Y’s equipment and price make it an imperfect stand-in for a much cheaper, smaller car. A $25,000 figure cannot be used to budget for a Tesla purchase unless Tesla announces that vehicle and its terms. Tesla’s October 2025 announcement about the refreshed Model Y discussed claimed reductions in road, impact, and wind noise. It also listed a 609 km estimated WLTP range for the Premium Long Range rear-wheel-drive trim with 19-inch wheels, and notes that actual range varies.
