Nissan has not announced that it is discontinuing Infiniti. The latest strategy described here points in the opposite direction: Nissan says it intends to cultivate and expand the luxury brand. Infiniti is Nissan’s luxury vehicle division.

In Nissan’s global portfolio strategy, the company says, “INFINITI remains a powerful asset that we will cultivate and expand.” Nissan also plans to streamline its overall product range from 56 models to 45. That planned reduction is a company-wide portfolio change; Nissan’s own statement specifically presents Infiniti as a brand it intends to develop, not eliminate.
What new Infiniti models has Nissan planned?
Nissan’s April 2026 long-term vision says Infiniti will be revitalized with new and refreshed models. It names three product plans:

- 2027 QX65: Nissan identifies this as an all-new model. An earlier announcement said it would join the North American range in fiscal year 2026; that fiscal-year timing is not the same as a 2027 model-year designation.
- Premium sports sedan: Nissan includes a new sedan in its future Infiniti lineup but does not provide a more specific launch date in the vision described here.
- Luxury hybrid compact SUV: Nissan says it is planned by the end of 2028.
These are announced intentions and target timing, not proof that each vehicle will reach showrooms exactly as described. Product plans can change.
Why are people asking whether Nissan will close Infiniti?
Nissan is restructuring under its Re:Nissan recovery plan, which focuses on improving business performance, revising product and market strategy, and building a leaner, more resilient company. That context can make questions about individual brands understandable, but restructuring does not itself establish that Infiniti is being shut down.

Nissan has also acknowledged that Infiniti’s sales volume was low. In its FY2024 results Q&A, the company said it had spread resources too thin and needed to give the brand more attention. Nissan described focusing resources and creating synergies between Nissan and Infiniti. Those comments point to performance challenges and a strategic refocus; they are not an announcement of closure.

Nissan’s strategy statements and announced products are the clearest evidence of its current stated intention: continue investing in Infiniti. They do not guarantee the brand’s long-term commercial success, a particular model’s delivery, or uninterrupted availability in every market. The plan’s success depends on execution and business performance.
