Jaguar has not confirmed that its new electric GT prototype is testing at the Nürburgring. There is also a naming correction: Type 00 is the design concept, while Jaguar calls the production-bound four-door GT Type 01. The company has documented prototype activity at Monaco and Goodwood, along with a broader global validation programme, but none of those announcements verifies a Nürburgring run.
Type 00 is the concept; Type 01 is the production GT
Jaguar unveiled Type 00 as a design vision concept at Miami Art Week on 2 December 2024. The company said its first reimagined production car would instead be an electric four-door GT, built in the UK on Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA). Jaguar’s Type 00 announcement makes the concept-versus-production distinction clear.
On 13 May 2026, Jaguar announced that the production GT would be called Type 01. The name’s “0” refers to electric propulsion and zero tailpipe emissions; “1” identifies it as the first Jaguar of a new era, according to the company’s naming announcement. Calling a camouflaged production prototype “Type 00” therefore conflates the concept with the car being developed for production.
What Jaguar has confirmed about Type 01 testing
Jaguar and JLR have described several parts of the prototype programme, but the public announcements cited here do not identify the Nürburgring as a test location.

- Global validation: JLR’s 2026 annual report says the electric luxury four-door GT programme involved 150 prototypes and hundreds of thousands of miles across hot desert highways, frozen lakes and virtual environments. Winter testing reached minus 40°C. The report gives programme-wide figures; it does not assign them to the Nürburgring or confirm a lap there. JLR 2026 annual report
- Monaco: Jaguar announced Type 01 prototype laps at the Monaco circuit ahead of the E-Prix in May 2026. It linked the car’s all-wheel-drive control software and silicon-carbide inverters to Formula E know-how, and said track-developed technology also informed regenerative braking, range and fast charging. - Goodwood: In July 2026, Jaguar described the Type 01 prototype’s dynamic UK debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed hillclimb. The company said the prototype wore its lightest camouflage to date. Jaguar’s Goodwood announcement
These are confirmed appearances and programme details, not evidence of Nürburgring testing. A video or photo could help establish a sighting only if it reliably identifies the car, location and date; an unverified search result is not enough to do so.
What the Type 01 is expected to be
Jaguar describes Type 01 as a luxury four-door electric GT using its dedicated JEA architecture. The company announced tri-motor technology with more than 1,000 PS and over 1,300 Nm. Those figures are manufacturer claims made ahead of the planned full reveal, not independently verified test results. Jaguar’s Type 01 announcement

- Die-cast metal body and chassis,
- Dimensions approximately L-2.75 inches long.
Jaguar’s first interior information, published in August 2026, describes a full-length central spine that creates four individual cabin spaces, a low driver’s seating position, a slim dashboard and a digital ClearSight rear-view display. These are the manufacturer’s descriptions; they are not a hands-on assessment. Jaguar’s interior announcement
At the time of that announcement, Jaguar had scheduled the Type 01 reveal in New York for 6 October 2026. Its earlier concept-era projections—up to 430 miles of EPA range and up to 200 miles of range added in 15 minutes of rapid charging—were expressly subject to final testing. They should not be treated as confirmed Type 01 specifications. Jaguar’s original projected figures and qualification

Is “polarizing” a measured description?
“Polarizing” is an editorial characterization in the headline, not a demonstrated measure of public opinion. The sources cited here do not provide a representative audience study or a statistic showing how widely people approve or dislike the design. Jaguar has described its own design direction, but that is not evidence of consensus among prospective buyers.
