What is known about the auction?
On August 12, 2025, Acura said it planned to auction the car in 2026 and invited interested bidders to register their interest at Monterey Car Week. What kind of NSX is it?
This is a one-off film car, not a production second-generation NSX Roadster. Acura says the styling was inspired by the second-generation NSX Concept shown at the 2012 North American International Auto Show, while the movie car itself was built on a first-generation NSX. Acura’s Los Angeles Design Studio team, led by then creative director Dave Marek, designed it; Trans FX in Oxnard, California, made the custom body.

The car retains its “Stark 33” license plate and, according to Acura, remains as it appeared on screen. Its appearance takes cues from the concept, but the underlying vehicle and construction are distinct from a factory NSX model.

Top Gear’s August 13, 2025 report identifies the donor as a 1991 NSX and reports an odometer reading of 252,000 miles. Acura’s announcement does not specify the donor’s year or mileage, so those details should be treated as Top Gear’s reporting rather than as Acura-confirmed specifications. Top Gear’s report
Can it be driven like a regular NSX?
Not on the strength of the historical reports alone. Edmunds reported in 2012 that the car was engineered to run only up to 30 mph and that Acura asked the publication to keep it under 20 mph during its review. A prospective buyer would need current documentation and an inspection to determine whether it can be driven, transported, or should be treated primarily as a display or film-provenance vehicle.
