Is Indian readying a new near-2,000cc engine?
There is no confirmation of a new engine in the official Indian Motorcycle engine information cited here. The pages describe engines currently in the lineup; they do not announce a separate near-2,000cc design, its specifications, or a launch date. Without an attributable report or company announcement, the claim that Indian is preparing such an engine remains unverified.
The distinction matters because Indian already sells engines that can be described as near 2,000cc when their displacement is converted from cubic inches. The Thunderstroke 116 is an existing 116-cubic-inch V-twin, equivalent to approximately 1,901cc. A rounded description of that engine should not be mistaken for news of a different one.

Power and torque figures above are Indian-published specifications, not independent test results. “Up to” figures are not promises that every application produces the same output. For current availability and the exact specification of a particular motorcycle, use the model-year listing for its market.
Why 116 cubic inches is close to 2,000cc
Cubic inches and cubic centimetres measure the same thing in different units. Converting 116 cubic inches gives approximately 1,901cc, close enough to 2,000cc for a rounded description. The unit conversion describes the size of the existing Thunderstroke 116; it says nothing about whether Indian is developing another engine.

Indian describes the Thunderstroke 116 as air-cooled, while the PowerPlus and SpeedPlus entries provide different engine-lineup context. Displacement alone does not establish how two engines will perform or which motorcycles they suit. A meaningful comparison also needs verified power and torque figures, measurement conditions, cooling and architecture, intended applications, and model-year availability.
What can be compared with Harley-Davidson?
Harley-Davidson’s official announcement for its 2026 CVO motorcycles says each is powered by a Milwaukee-Eight engine exclusive to the CVO program. That provides a limited reference point for a specific Harley-Davidson range, not a complete comparison between the manufacturers and not evidence of Indian’s plans.

There is not enough confirmed information to compare a hypothetical Indian engine with Harley-Davidson on displacement, output, price, release timing, or performance. Any such comparison would require an announced Indian engine and specifications tied to identifiable models and conditions.
