There is a new HEMI-powered Charger, but it is the limited-run Hustle Stuff Drag Pak built for NHRA competition—not a street model.
What engines are in the announced street Charger lineup?
Dodge’s announced 2027 Charger lineup separates its gas-powered models from the electric Daytona. The R/T and Scat Pack use versions of the 3.0-liter twin-turbo SIXPACK inline-six; the Daytona is all-electric. Dodge lists both two-door and four-door configurations in the lineup.

These are Dodge’s published specifications in its 2027 model-year announcement, not independent test results. Dodge said orders were open and arrivals for 2027 models were scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026. Dodge’s Charger FAQ also identifies the gas R/T and Scat Pack as SIXPACK-powered and distinguishes them from the electric Daytona.
What is the HEMI-powered Charger Drag Pak?
The exception is the 2026 Dodge Charger Hustle Stuff Drag Pak by Direct Connection, announced by Stellantis on October 31, 2025. It is a purpose-built NHRA Factory Stock Showdown competition car, not a production street Charger. Stellantis said it would build 50 serialized units, each with a supercharged 354-cubic-inch HEMI V-8. The company described the car as capable of sub-eight-second elapsed times.

Stellantis motorsports competition director Kevin Kidd described it as “mission-engineered” for Factory Stock Showdown drivers, with a supercharged HEMI race engine in a race-car version of the all-new Charger. That racing context is essential: the Drag Pak confirms a HEMI in a next-generation Charger-bodied vehicle, but not in the street lineup.
Does the new R/T’s comparison with the old HEMI mean it is returning?
No. Dodge’s 2026 R/T announcement compares the new SIXPACK R/T with the outgoing R/T, which used a 5.7-liter HEMI. Dodge says the new R/T produces 420 horsepower and 468 lb.-ft. of torque and is quicker than that predecessor. This is a comparison with the previous-generation car, not an announcement of a HEMI-powered street Charger for the new generation.

Has Dodge said a street HEMI Charger will come later?
The announcements reviewed through October 4, 2026, do not establish a future street HEMI Charger. Dodge’s current stated street lineup is gas SIXPACK R/T and Scat Pack models plus the electric Daytona; Stellantis’s confirmed HEMI Charger is the 50-unit competition Drag Pak. Those facts do not rule out a later announcement, but they do not support treating one as planned or confirmed.
Dodge promotes 5.7-liter and 6.2-liter HEMI engines elsewhere in its broader muscle-car material, but that does not identify either engine as a powertrain for the current street Charger. HEMI availability in other Dodge contexts should not be mistaken for a Charger street-model announcement.
