In one important sense, yes: the Cat-branded truck shown at CONEXPO 2026 is reported to be a one-off concept built on a Ford F-450 chassis, part of Ford’s Super Duty pickup line. But it is not a confirmed retail model, and Caterpillar says it is not tied to a Ford collaboration.
What is the Caterpillar pickup truck?
It is a Caterpillar-styled concept pickup that Equipment World identified as being based on a Ford F-450 chassis. The vehicle was displayed at CONEXPO 2026, with Cat design and jobsite technology presented in a familiar work-truck format. Ford describes Super Duty as a pickup line in its July 2024 F-Series release.
That makes “Ford Super Duty-based” a fair shorthand for the underlying truck. It does not establish that the concept is simply a production Ford with a Cat badge, or that Ford and Caterpillar jointly developed a vehicle for sale.
Is the Cat pickup a production truck you can buy?
No production Cat pickup or consumer availability is established by the published reporting. Equipment World reported that the one-off concept was not set for production in its update dated June 18, 2026. Caterpillar characterized it as a vision piece rather than a product.

In a statement quoted by The Fast Lane Truck, Caterpillar said the vehicle “isn’t tied to a Ford collaboration” and was intended to spark ideas about work trucks becoming mobile command centers. The statement should be understood as reported by that outlet, not as a quotation from an official Caterpillar webpage.
What does the concept add to the Ford-based truck?
The point of the demonstration is the Cat jobsite technology and work-focused presentation, rather than a confirmed new pickup specification. Equipment World describes Cat styling, a redesigned exterior, additional lighting, a headache rack, a roof-mounted autonomous drone, Cat AI Assistant and VisionLink. Car and Driver also reports driver-fatigue monitoring, a camera system intended to detect workers near heavy machinery, and a dashboard screen for the technology.

- Approximate measurement of vehicle: 3.75in L x 1.25in H x 1.25 in W

Those are features described for the concept. The reporting does not establish that the full technology package is commercially available for customers’ trucks.
Why did Caterpillar show it?
The concept is framed around managing work across jobsites. Equipment World quotes Caterpillar creative director Archie Lyons saying that customer research found a need for better ways for foremen to manage multiple jobsites. Lyons also described the vehicle as “very much a future concept.” That positioning makes it a technology and design demonstration, not a product announcement.

What is confirmed—and what is not?
- Confirmed by the reporting: a Cat-branded one-off concept was shown at CONEXPO 2026, and Equipment World identifies its base as a Ford F-450 chassis.
- Described as concept equipment: Cat styling and jobsite technology, including VisionLink, an AI assistant and an autonomous drone.
- Not established: a production Cat pickup, a retail price, order availability, production date, engine or towing figures, or a formal Ford-Caterpillar collaboration.
For the underlying vehicle, then, “Ford Super Duty-based concept” is more precise than “a Caterpillar pickup” if the latter implies a truck customers can buy. The distinction is central: the show vehicle exists, but a production Cat-branded pickup is not established.
