How the $10 billion V8 Charger report began
On October 7, 2025, Jalopnik summarized a Bloomberg report that Stellantis was considering new U.S. investment in Dodge that could result in a V8 muscle car. The report described discussions as ongoing: no final decision had been made, and both the investment amount and the projects it might support could change. It did not confirm a V8 Charger specifically. Read the October 7 report.
What Stellantis officially announced
One week later, on October 14, Stellantis announced a plan to invest $13 billion in the United States over four years. The company said the plan would support five new vehicles, 19 other product actions through 2029, and more than 5,000 jobs. The $13 billion announcement superseded the earlier reported $10 billion figure as the official investment plan; it did not confirm the rumored V8 car. See Stellantis’ announcement.
Projects named in the plan
- Reopening the Belvidere, Illinois, plant for two Jeep vehicles.
- Building a new midsize truck in Toledo, Ohio.
- Producing a range-extended electric vehicle and an internal-combustion large SUV at Warren, Michigan.
- Building a next-generation Dodge Durango in Detroit.
- Producing a new four-cylinder engine at Kokomo, Indiana.
The announcement does not assign part of the investment to a Charger V8. The same October 14 announcement is also available as a SEC-filed exhibit.

Ram’s HEMI return is a separate product action
Stellantis’ February 2026 business update recapped its U.S. investment and identified both the Ram HEMI V-8 return and the Dodge Charger SIXPACK among product actions. Its full-year results likewise discussed the Ram 1500 HEMI V8 launch and described the Charger SIXPACK as a return to the internal-combustion muscle-car segment. Those references show that Stellantis brought a V8 back to the Ram lineup; they do not establish a V8 Charger or link one to the investment. Business reset update · Full-year results.
What the current Charger lineup announcement says
In its September 17, 2026 product announcement, Stellantis described the eighth-generation Charger with electric Daytona and gasoline SIXPACK configurations. The SIXPACK uses a 3.0-liter twin-turbo Hurricane straight-six. The release lists no V8 variant, so a V8 Charger remains unconfirmed in the company announcements reviewed here—not ruled out for the future. See Dodge’s Charger announcement.

So, will the new Dodge Charger get a V8?
There is no confirmed answer that it will. The 2025 report raised the possibility of a V8 Dodge muscle car, while Stellantis’ later investment announcement did not name a V8 Charger. The company’s September 2026 Charger description identifies electric and straight-six versions only. These sources leave any future V8 Charger decision unresolved.
