The Pagani Huayra Codalunga is a long-tail, tailor-made version of the Huayra Coupé, created after two collectors asked Pagani for a more elongated design. Pagani announced just five examples, all sold out, with a launch price starting at €7 million. The figure in the original “$7 million” framing is not Pagani’s stated price: the manufacturer quoted euros in June 2022, and its announcement does not establish a current resale value.
How two collectors started the Codalunga project
Pagani says the story began in 2018, when two collectors asked founder Horacio Pagani for a long-tail version of the Huayra Coupé. They wanted a car with an elegant, clean shape that could suit both road use and concours events. The company describes the result as a collaborative, tailor-made commission developed with the clients and its Grandi Complicazioni special-projects division—not a routine trim package. Pagani’s June 16, 2022 announcement and its 2023 anniversary material recount that origin.
Pagani’s account emphasizes the clients’ active involvement, but does not document every design or engineering decision separately. Horacio Pagani summarized the company’s approach to returning clients this way: “A client is not someone who only buys from you once. A real client comes back again and again”.
What “Codalunga” means in the car’s design
“Codalunga” means “long tail” in Italian, a description of the Huayra’s extended rear bodywork. Pagani presents the shape as a tribute to the timeless forms of Italian coachbuilders and racing cars of the 1960s. Its official material supports that broad inspiration; it does not identify one historic car as a direct template.

The contrast with the standard Huayra Coupé is clearest in the engine cover and the overall silhouette. Pagani’s Italian-language model page says the Codalunga’s engine cover exceeds 3.7 m² and is more than 360 mm longer than the Coupé’s. Those dimensions help explain the visual transformation without implying a separate performance comparison. Pagani’s Italian-language Codalunga page provides the measurements.
How many were made, and what did the Codalunga cost?
Pagani limited production to five tailor-made cars and said all five were sold out when it announced the model in June 2022. The company stated a starting price of €7 million. That is the manufacturer’s launch-price figure, not a reported transaction price for a later resale. Pagani’s announcement does not establish what an example would cost on the current secondary market, and converting the launch figure to dollars would require a dated exchange rate and conversion method.
