Infiniti’s QX80 R-Spec is a 2026 concept build unveiled for the 2025 SEMA Show in Las Vegas—not a production trim or a model documented as available for sale. Its headline feature is a modified, GT-R-sourced 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 that Infiniti says is capable of up to 1,000 horsepower. The company has not published an independent dyno result for that figure.
What the QX80 R-Spec is—and isn’t
Infiniti presents the R-Spec as an extreme study of how its flagship SUV could blend luxury and performance. It made its public debut at the 2025 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Infiniti’s newsroom photo and video coverage is dated October 27, 2025, and Car and Driver also described the vehicle as a concept ahead of the show.
That distinction matters: the R-Spec is a bespoke concept build, not a listed 2026 QX80 trim. The available announcements do not establish retail availability for the vehicle or its custom components.
The GT-R-sourced engine and the 1,000-hp claim
Infiniti says the concept uses a modified 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 sourced from the Nissan GT-R. Its announcement describes the engine as capable of up to 1,000 horsepower and lists custom turbochargers, intercoolers, exhaust manifolds and an upgraded fuel system.
#1 Best Overall
- Collectible: This 1:64 scale die-cast model is the 33rd release in the 2022 Matchbox series, featuring a gray Infiniti QX80 SUV.
- Detailed Design: Expertly crafted to capture the distinctive styling and proportions of the full-size luxury SUV.
- Authentic Branding: Features the iconic Infiniti emblem and badging for a realistic look.
- Compact Size: With its compact 1:64 scale, this model is perfect for display or adding to your collection.
- Premium Quality: Made from high-quality materials for long-lasting durability and enjoyment.
“Capable of” is the important qualifier. Infiniti’s materials state the intended capability, but do not provide an independent dyno test or other third-party measurement confirming 1,000 hp.
How the R-Spec differs from the production 2026 QX80
The concept’s powertrain is not the one in the production SUV. Infiniti’s 2026 QX80 brochure lists a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 producing up to 450 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, with up to 8,500 lb of towing capacity when properly equipped.

- 【Compatible Models】: Not all trims of the same model will fit — the button photo is the only way to know for sure. Fits SELECT Infiniti QX60/QX80/Q70 & Nissan Pathfinder/Armada with "APPS" key (NOT compatible with TEL/DISP/INFO). NO "APPS" BUTTON=NO FIT.

| Item | QX80 R-Spec concept | Production 2026 QX80 |
|---|---|---|
| Status | Concept build shown for the 2025 SEMA Show; not documented as a retail model (Infiniti concept announcement) | Production SUV (Infiniti 2026 QX80 brochure) |
| Engine | Modified, GT-R-sourced 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 (Infiniti concept announcement) | 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 (Infiniti 2026 QX80 brochure) |
| Power | Infiniti says the engine is capable of up to 1,000 hp; no independent test result is reported in the cited materials | Up to 450 hp and 516 lb-ft (Infiniti 2026 QX80 brochure) |
| Towing capacity | Not stated for the concept | Up to 8,500 lb when properly equipped (Infiniti 2026 QX80 brochure) |
| Availability | Consumer availability is not established by the reviewed announcements | Production model; the brochure describes its specifications |
The production QX80’s towing figure belongs to that SUV and should not be attributed to the R-Spec. Likewise, the concept’s engine and power claim do not describe the standard 2026 model.
Chassis, brakes and exterior changes
Infiniti describes a purpose-built package rather than a set of plug-and-play upgrades for an ordinary QX80. The R-Spec has GT-R carbon-ceramic brakes modified for the SUV, custom coilover suspension, bronze 24-inch GT-R-inspired wheels and 315-section-width tires.

Its exterior is also substantially reworked: a custom body kit gives it a wider, lower stance, and the Midnight Purple wrap takes inspiration from the GT-R T-Spec Takumi Edition. Infiniti has not presented these parts as retail accessories or confirmed that they fit production QX80s.
Why Infiniti built it
The R-Spec is a design and engineering showcase, not a preview with confirmed production specifications. Tiago Castro, Vice President of INFINITI Americas, said: “QX80 R-Spec is extreme, aggressive and a showcase of what INFINITI can do when our engineering and design teams take off all the guardrails.”

Can you buy the QX80 R-Spec or its parts?
The cited Infiniti materials document the concept and its debut, but do not identify the R-Spec as available to order or list its bespoke components for sale. They also do not establish that the described GT-R engine, brakes, suspension, wheels or bodywork can be installed as compatible production-QX80 parts. For shoppers, the relevant reference is the production 2026 QX80 and its separate specifications—not the concept’s 1,000-hp claim.
