The INFINITI QX80 R-Spec is a one-off show build, not an announced production trim. It debuted publicly at the 2025 SEMA Show in Las Vegas with a modified Nissan GT-R-sourced 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 that INFINITI says is capable of 1,000 horsepower. That figure is the manufacturer’s stated capability, not an independently verified output.
What is the QX80 R-Spec?
INFINITI created the R-Spec as a build showcasing how its engineering and design teams could reinterpret the full-size QX80 without production constraints. It made its public debut at the 2025 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. In INFINITI’s words, vice president Tiago Castro called it “extreme, aggressive and a showcase of what INFINITI can do when our engineering and design teams take off all the guardrails.” That describes the project’s intent, not a claim about measured performance. INFINITI’s QX80 R-Spec page presents the build and its features.
What is under the hood?
The R-Spec uses a GT-R-sourced 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6. INFINITI says the engine was modified to be capable of 1,000 horsepower. The company has not published an independent test or dyno result establishing that output, so it should be read as a stated capability rather than a verified figure. The listed engine work includes custom turbochargers, intercoolers and exhaust manifolds, along with an upgraded fuel system. INFINITI’s SEMA build materials describe the modifications.
How does the R-Spec differ from the production QX80?
The show build and the retail QX80 are not the same specification. INFINITI’s 2026 production brochure lists a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 for the standard QX80; it does not list the R-Spec’s GT-R-derived engine as a customer option. The R-Spec’s engine swap and bespoke hardware are build-specific, not evidence of a factory upgrade package. The 2026 QX80 brochure covers the production model.

What other modifications does it have?
Brakes and suspension
INFINITI lists Nissan GT-R carbon-ceramic brakes modified to fit the QX80, plus a custom coilover suspension. The brake system’s bespoke fitment is specific to this build and does not establish compatibility for a retail QX80.
Wheels, tires and styling
The build wears bronze, GT-R-inspired 24-inch wheels, each 12 inches wide, with 315-section tires. A custom wide-and-low aerodynamic body kit and Midnight Purple wrap—drawing inspiration from the GT-R T-Spec Takumi Edition—complete the look. These are R-Spec build specifications, not confirmed retail fitments or a parts list for owners.

Can you buy an R-Spec or order the engine swap?
The official materials cited here describe a SEMA show build and the production QX80, but do not announce a production R-Spec, a retail purchase route, or a consumer engine-swap package. They also do not establish that the R-Spec’s brakes, suspension, wheels or body components are available as compatible aftermarket upgrades. Treat the R-Spec as a showcase vehicle unless INFINITI announces otherwise.
