A dash cam and wireless CarPlay can be added together, but “2-in-1 upgrade” can mean two different setups: a portable touchscreen with camera functions, or a dash cam paired with an adapter that uses a compatible factory display. The title does not identify the car or equipment used, so this guide explains the available approaches without attributing either product to the author.
What a dash cam and wireless CarPlay upgrade can look like
The main choice is whether to add a screen or use the one already in the car. That affects compatibility, dashboard space, camera wiring and how you access recordings.

Option 1: Add a portable screen and camera system
HIEHA describes an 8.1-inch portable touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 2K dash camera and a 1080P backup camera. It also lists AUX input, Bluetooth, FM transmission, a suction-cup/base mount and a 64GB TF card. The manufacturer says the unit does not replace the factory stereo.

The screen draws power from the vehicle’s outlet, so confirm that you have a working outlet and a mounting position that does not obstruct your view. The additional screen takes up dashboard space; this may be a more practical trade-off in a car without a useful built-in display than in one that already has a well-placed infotainment screen.
Plan the rear-camera installation
The backup camera is not simply a wireless add-on in the described setup. HIEHA instructs users to route its cable and connect the reverse-trigger wire to the positive wire for the vehicle’s reverse light. That makes installation more involved than placing the screen and plugging it into an outlet. If you are not comfortable identifying and connecting vehicle wiring, arrange qualified installation rather than guessing at a wire.

HIEHA’s listed camera specifications describe the product, not independently verified recording performance. Treat the stated 2K and 1080P resolutions as manufacturer claims rather than proof of how readable footage will be in your own conditions.
Option 2: Pair a dash cam with a wireless CarPlay adapter
Ottocast’s OttoSafe Cam combines a dash cam and wireless CarPlay adapter, with camera view and clip management on the car’s screen. Its requirements are narrow: the vehicle must have factory wired Apple CarPlay, and the phone must be an iPhone. The manufacturer says Android Auto-only vehicles and cars with wireless-only CarPlay are unsupported.

Ottocast also says its camera operates only with the adapter included in the box. Do not assume that the camera will work as a standalone dash cam or with a different CarPlay adapter; confirm that the bundled arrangement suits your intended use.
Understand the parking-surveillance requirement
For parking surveillance, Ottocast specifies a third-party hardwire kit with A5/B5 signal pins. This is separate from the adapter bundle. Check the pin requirement against the hardwire kit before purchase, and consider professional installation if you are unfamiliar with connecting a device to the car’s electrical system.

Which approach fits your car?
- Your car lacks a suitable built-in screen: A portable screen can add CarPlay without replacing the stereo, but it adds a display and may require rear-camera cable routing and reverse-light wiring.
- Your car has factory wired CarPlay and you use an iPhone: A dash-cam/adapter bundle may let you use the factory screen, subject to the product’s full compatibility requirements.
- Your car supports only wireless CarPlay or Android Auto: OttoSafe Cam is not supported according to Ottocast’s stated requirements. Check for a different product designed for your specific vehicle and phone rather than assuming an adapter will work.
- You want parking surveillance: Identify the required power and hardwire setup before choosing a product; the OttoSafe feature requires a compatible A5/B5-pin hardwire kit.
- You need a rear or backup-camera view: Check which camera positions are actually included and whether their wiring is feasible in your vehicle. A front dash camera and a rear backup camera serve different purposes.
Check these details before buying or installing
- Confirm the car’s CarPlay type. For OttoSafe Cam, verify that the vehicle has factory wired Apple CarPlay—not merely a screen, wireless CarPlay or Android Auto.
- Confirm phone support. OttoSafe Cam is specified for iPhone. HIEHA describes support for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
- Decide where the display will go. A portable unit needs a stable mounting location that leaves the driver’s view clear. A factory-screen solution avoids an extra display but depends on the supported factory system.
- Map the camera wiring. Check whether a rear camera is included, where its cable must run, and whether a reverse-light trigger connection is required.
- Plan power and parking mode separately. A vehicle outlet powers the HIEHA display; OttoSafe parking surveillance calls for a separately purchased A5/B5-signal-pin hardwire kit.
- Check storage and clip access. HIEHA lists a 64GB TF card. Ottocast describes clip management through its screen, but the cited product description does not state a storage capacity. Verify what card is included or supported and how clips can be retrieved before relying on the system.
Another integrated-screen format
TechRadar’s 2026 review describes the Vantrue Pilot 2 as a dash-cam hub with a 6.25-inch touchscreen supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The reviewer notes it may be less useful in a modern vehicle that already has an infotainment screen. It is another example of an integrated display approach, not evidence about the equipment used in the title’s first-person claim.
