Hyundai Motor America’s “Your Dad Is Going Electric” ads star Kevin Bacon and his daughter Sosie Bacon as a father-daughter pair adjusting to his enthusiastic switch to an electric car. The campaign promoted the all-electric Hyundai IONIQ 6 and was announced on January 27, 2023—not as a new 2026 campaign.
What happens in the Kevin Bacon Hyundai ad?
Kevin Bacon plays a dad who has gone electric and eagerly shows off his new car’s features. His daughter, played by Sosie Bacon, knows him as someone less comfortable with technology, creating the joke at the center of the spots: he is unexpectedly enthusiastic about his EV.
Hyundai framed the campaign for people who were curious about electric cars but uncertain about making the switch. The company said the ads would address concerns including driving range and charging time.
Which Hyundai does Kevin Bacon drive?
The featured car is the all-electric Hyundai IONIQ 6. In its January 2023 campaign announcement, Hyundai said the IONIQ 6 SE RWD had an estimated range of up to 361 miles. That is a manufacturer claim for that specific trim in the campaign-era release, not an independent test or a figure that applies to every IONIQ 6 model year and configuration.

Hyundai also said the car could charge from 10% to 80% in as little as 18 minutes when connected to a 350-kW, 800V DC ultra-fast charger. That is likewise a manufacturer statement; actual charging time depends on the vehicle, charger and conditions.
When did the campaign run?
Hyundai announced the campaign on January 27, 2023. The release described 60- and 30-second spots scheduled to air during the professional football conference championship games on January 29, with broadcast and digital placements continuing through March as the IONIQ 6 went on sale.
