The Ioniq 9 ranked lowest at 37.4%. These are model-level estimates based on five-year depreciation from MSRP—not guaranteed resale prices for a particular car. The top-ranked Veloster is discontinued, too, so it is not a new-car option.
How do Hyundai models rank for resale value?
iSeeCars’ 2026 U.S. Hyundai ranking estimates five-year resale value from depreciation against MSRP. Its page says it analyzed more than 3 million cars to determine model-specific values. The table below lists selected results, ordered from highest to lowest among the models shown.
| Hyundai model | Estimated value retained after five years | Listed average price of a five-year-old example |
|---|---|---|
| Veloster | 71.2% | $15,639 |
| Veloster N | 70.2% | $23,220 |
| Santa Cruz | 65.1% | not stated by iSeeCars |
| Accent | 65.0% | not stated by iSeeCars |
| Venue | 64.1% | not stated by iSeeCars |
| Elantra | 63.6% | not stated by iSeeCars |
| Elantra N | 63.0% | not stated by iSeeCars |
| Kona N | 60.0% | not stated by iSeeCars |
| Kona | 59.9% | not stated by iSeeCars |
| Elantra Hybrid | 58.1% | not stated by iSeeCars |
| Ioniq Electric | 42.3% | not stated by iSeeCars |
| Kona Electric | 41.3% | not stated by iSeeCars |
| Ioniq 6 | 41.0% | not stated by iSeeCars |
| Ioniq 5 | 41.0% | not stated by iSeeCars |
| Ioniq 9 | 37.4% | not stated by iSeeCars |
All percentages and the two average used prices in this table are from iSeeCars’ 2026 Hyundai ranking. Its published page lists 27 models; Ioniq 5 N is marked not yet ranked, so there is no estimate for that model in the table. This is a selection of reported models, not a ranking of every Hyundai ever sold. See iSeeCars’ Hyundai resale-value ranking.
What the top-ranked models mean for buyers
Veloster and Veloster N: high retention, but discontinued
The Veloster’s 71.2% estimate leads the listed Hyundai models, and the Veloster N follows at 70.2%. iSeeCars lists 2021 as the Veloster’s last new model year and 2022 as the Veloster N’s. Those results describe the used market for these discontinued models; they do not mean a shopper can order a new one, or that a particular example will sell for the listed average. Mileage, condition, trim, and local market can change a car’s value.

Santa Cruz: third among listed Hyundais
The Santa Cruz is estimated to retain 65.1% after five years in the 2026 ranking. It is close to the Accent’s 65.0%, while the Venue, Elantra, and Elantra N also appear above 63%. The percentages are useful for comparing the study’s model-level estimates, not for deciding which vehicle best fits an individual buyer.
Ioniq 9 and other lower-ranked entries
The Ioniq 9 is the lowest-ranked Hyundai in the published results with a percentage, at 37.4%. The Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 are each estimated at 41.0%; the Kona Electric at 41.3%; and the Ioniq Electric at 42.3%. These are ranking outcomes, not evidence that a particular powertrain feature caused a model’s result.

How Hyundai’s figures compare with the wider market
In its 2026 all-vehicle study, iSeeCars analyzed more than 950,000 five-year-old used cars sold from March 2025 through February 2026. It found average five-year depreciation of 41.8%, an improvement of 3.8 percentage points over 2025. In the same study, it reported 35.4% depreciation for hybrids and 57.2% for electric vehicles. These broad segment figures provide context for the Hyundai estimates, but they do not explain why any individual Hyundai ranked where it did. Read iSeeCars’ 2026 vehicle depreciation study.
Kelley Blue Book’s separate 2026 model-year projection puts average five-year value retention at about 45%. KBB bases residual values on projected future auction values for vehicles in average condition with 75,000 miles at the end of a five-year lease or ownership period, drawing on its Official Residual Value Guide and statistical models built from millions of transactions. Its figure and iSeeCars’ 41.8% average depreciation are not direct opposites: the studies use different methods and assumptions. KBB named Toyota its 2026 Best Resale Value Brand and Lexus its Best Resale Value Luxury Brand; those award results do not establish a Hyundai-wide rank. How to compare actual Hyundai listings
A model ranking is one input, not a price quote for a specific vehicle. Before choosing between listings, compare the same details for each car:
- Model year and trim: A model-level percentage does not tell you the value of every trim or model year.
- Original MSRP and transaction price: The ranking measures depreciation against MSRP. Your purchase price and the price you eventually receive matter to your own dollar loss.
- Mileage and condition: Wear, maintenance, accident history, and mileage affect the value of an individual car.
- Local listings and demand: Check comparable vehicles in your area; the national model estimate does not provide a local valuation.
- Powertrain and current used-market demand: Compare like with like where possible rather than assuming all versions of a model will behave alike.
- Ownership costs and usefulness: Resale rank does not measure whether a car suits your needs, financing, insurance costs, or overall cost of ownership.
iSeeCars also evaluates reliability, value retention, and safety in its broader vehicle score, with separate inputs for safety and reliability. A high resale estimate alone is not a measure of overall quality.

What to check on a Hyundai Certified Used Vehicle
Hyundai Motor America says a Certified Used Hyundai must be six model years old or newer, have no more than 80,000 miles, and pass a 173-point inspection. The program describes remaining comprehensive limited warranty and powertrain coverage, subject to the original in-service date, mileage, and program terms. Verify coverage for the specific VIN and transaction rather than assuming all certified vehicles have identical time or mileage remaining. CPO status is not a guarantee of reliability or future resale value. See Hyundai’s Certified Used Vehicles information.
