A February 2026 report says about 568,576 U.S. Hyundai Palisades from model years 2020–2025 may be affected by a third-row side-curtain airbag issue. The report’s urgent “pull over immediately” headline does not establish that Hyundai or NHTSA issued an official stop-driving order. Check your vehicle by its 17-character VIN and follow the latest instructions from Hyundai or NHTSA.
What the reported Palisade recall concerns
Nextpit reported on February 2, 2026, that an inspection found the deployed side-curtain airbags did not provide adequate protection to third-row passengers, and that Hyundai confirmed the performance issue in compliance testing. The report said the risk was especially relevant in rollover and side-impact crashes. These are claims from the secondary report; the specific NHTSA campaign filing was not verified. Read the report.
The report identified approximately 568,576 U.S. vehicles from model years 2020 through 2025. That figure is not confirmation that every Palisade in those years is included: use the VIN lookup to check a particular vehicle.
Does “stop driving” mean owners must park immediately?
The headline wording alone does not establish an official do-not-drive instruction. The available report describes an occupant-protection concern, but the current official advisory for unrepaired vehicles was not verified here. Do not treat the headline as a regulator order; check the current notice for your VIN and contact Hyundai or a dealer if its instructions are unclear.

How to check your Palisade and arrange a repair
- Find the vehicle’s 17-character VIN, usually visible through the windshield on the driver’s side or on the vehicle’s registration and insurance documents.
- Enter the VIN in NHTSA’s recall lookup to check for open recalls.
- If a recall appears, follow the listed instructions and contact a Hyundai dealer about scheduling. NHTSA says open recalls are repaired free at a local dealership.
- Check Hyundai or NHTSA again for updated repair and safety instructions if the campaign record says a remedy is not yet available.
Nextpit said Hyundai was developing a free remedy and expected owner letters in mid-March 2026. That was the status described when the report was published; it does not confirm whether repairs are now available or whether a particular vehicle has been repaired. Verify the current status using the VIN.
What the report says about injuries
Nextpit reported no injuries linked to the defect at the time of publication. This is a time-bound statement from that article, not a current safety guarantee.

NHTSA says its SaferCar app can notify users about recalls related to vehicles or equipment they enter. An alert is a useful reminder, but check an individual Palisade by VIN when making a repair decision.
