Hyundai unveiled two China-developed IONIQ electric-vehicle concepts in Beijing on April 10, 2026: VENUS, a sedan, and EARTH, a family SUV. They preview design directions for Hyundai’s China-focused IONIQ lineup, but neither was announced as a production car. At Auto China on April 24, Hyundai separately unveiled IONIQ V as its first dedicated IONIQ production model for China.
What are the Hyundai VENUS and EARTH concepts?
Hyundai revealed the concepts at its IONIQ brand launch event at Hyundai Motorstudio Beijing, held April 7–10, ahead of Auto China 2026. The company presented them as China-developed design concepts and as an opening chapter for IONIQ in China’s new-energy-vehicle market. Hyundai described VENUS as a trend-setting sedan and EARTH as a dependable family SUV. (Hyundai Motor Company, April 10, 2026)
VENUS: a sedan concept
Hyundai’s design description gives VENUS a Radiant Gold finish, a sleek one-curve profile, a lightweight roof structure and a transparent spoiler. Inside, the concept is driver-focused, with layered mood lighting, premium materials and a playful character called “Lumi.” These are concept design details, not confirmed features for a retail vehicle. EARTH: a family SUV concept
EARTH’s exterior theme, which Hyundai calls “Aurora Shield,” uses sharp edges, sculpted volumes and robust details. The cabin is presented as comfortable and breathable, with air-hug seats, nature-inspired lighting, subtle “shy-tech” features and references to Beijing. These descriptions apply to the concept; Hyundai has not confirmed that the same equipment will appear on a production SUV. (Hyundai’s IONIQ design journal, April 10, 2026)

Hyundai’s concept-launch materials do not state battery capacity, range, motor output, charging speed, dimensions, pricing or a production timetable for either vehicle. Those figures therefore cannot be compared from the reveal, and specifications from other IONIQ models should not be assumed to apply.
Are the Hyundai IONIQ VENUS and EARTH production cars?
No production versions of VENUS or EARTH were confirmed in the April 10 announcement. Hyundai described them as concepts and said it would introduce production models, but did not identify either concept as a confirmed production vehicle or provide a launch schedule. Li Fenggang, president of Beijing Hyundai Motor Company, said the company would continue to develop products reflecting Chinese customers’ needs and would introduce production models combining smart-driving and smart-cabin experiences. A separate announcement followed on April 24 at Auto China: Hyundai unveiled IONIQ V and identified it as the first dedicated IONIQ production model for China. That later production-model announcement does not change the status of VENUS and EARTH. (Hyundai Motor Company, April 24, 2026)

Hyundai describes its approach as “In China, For China, To Global”: bringing its global standards together with locally tailored technology, services and customer experiences. The company says the China lineup will use a planet-based naming system and include pure-electric and extended-range models in SUV and coupe body styles, spanning medium and large segments over three years.
