Ford’s Edge owner manuals do not document one universal backup-camera reset procedure. First check for dirt or moisture on the lens and clean it gently; if the picture stays cloudy or blank, use the manual for your model year and have the system inspected. A camera-delay setting changes how long the image stays on screen—it is not a reset.
Start with the camera lens
Park the Edge safely and check the rear camera lens for mud, water, or debris. Ford recommends cleaning an obstructed lens with a soft, lint-free cloth and non-abrasive cleaner. Wipe gently; do not scrape the lens or use an abrasive product. A clean automotive microfiber cloth is suitable for this limited purpose, but cleaning cannot repair a failed camera. Ford’s 2020 Edge owner manual explains that dirt and debris can obstruct the view.
Check the setting only if the image disappears after reversing
If the camera works in reverse but the image goes away sooner than expected after you shift out of reverse, check whether your Edge has a Rear View Camera Delay setting. In the 2023 Edge manual, the path is Settings > Vehicle Settings > Rear View Camera Delay. This controls how long the image remains after leaving reverse; it does not reset or repair the camera.
The 2023 manual says the image may remain until the vehicle is shifted into park or reaches approximately 5 mph (8 km/h). This is an operating detail for that manual, not a universal threshold for every model year. See the 2023 Edge manual for its description of the feature.

Use the manual for your Edge’s model year
Menu names and available equipment can vary by year and configuration. Ford’s owner-manual index lists Edge manuals for 2014 and 2018 through 2024; use the one that matches your vehicle. Ford also cautions that an online manual may vary slightly from the manual supplied with the vehicle, so treat your vehicle-specific manual as the primary reference. Ford’s owner-manual index provides the available manuals, and the 2024 Edge manual identifies itself as the 2024 model-year manual with an edition date of June 2023.
When to have the camera inspected
If the picture remains cloudy after cleaning, or the display stays blank or unavailable, arrange an inspection rather than trying an unverified reset. The Ford sources reviewed do not establish a universal button sequence, touchscreen command, fuse pull, or battery-disconnect procedure for resetting every Edge backup camera.

Ford’s park-assist camera parts page advises inspection for a cloudy image or no backup-camera picture and describes repair or replacement as a possible service path. Its listed SKU, EE9Z19G490A, is not proof of fitment for every Edge. If replacement is recommended, ask Ford or a qualified repairer to verify the correct part for your model year, trim, and configuration, ideally by VIN.

The backup camera is an aid, not a substitute for checking your surroundings. Ford’s 2020 manual says the rear-view camera is a “reverse aid supplement device” and that drivers should use it with the interior and exterior mirrors for maximum coverage. Objects near the bumper corners or beneath the bumper may not appear on screen. Look around the vehicle and use the mirrors while reversing, even when the camera image is clear.
