Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsBefore buying a part for a Dodge Challenger or Charger SRT Hellcat, pin down the car’s model year, model, trim, engine, transmission and intended use. Then check the applicable owner’s manual, warranty terms and the part’s exact fitment. There is no universally best first performance modification: the right choice depends on what you want the car to do and what your specific vehicle can accept.
What should you upgrade first on your Hellcat?
Start by defining the goal, not by choosing a part. A change aimed at appearance, sound, handling, maintenance, track use or added power can involve different costs, installation demands and implications for warranty coverage and road legality. The sources here do not establish a universally best beginner upgrade or support performance promises for a particular modification.
Use this sequence before committing to a purchase:
- Identify the car. Record its model year, Challenger or Charger body, trim, engine and transmission. Use the VIN as well if a dealer or parts seller requests it to confirm fitment.
- Set the intended use. Decide whether the car will be used on public roads, at the track, or both, and what you want the change to accomplish.
- Check the vehicle documents. Read the owner’s manual and the warranty information that applies to your exact vehicle. Ask the dealer or warranty provider how the proposed change may affect specific coverage.
- Confirm the application. Check official Mopar or Direct Connection catalog information and installation documents for the exact vehicle, prerequisites, revision and installer requirements.
- Verify road-use requirements. For a street-driven car, check emissions certification and applicable rules for the exact part and location before installation.
- Plan installation last. Once fitment is confirmed, determine whether the work requires a qualified installer and which tools the specific instructions call for.
Dodge points Challenger owners to Mopar parts and service and to Direct Connection performance parts. Those are useful factory-backed starting points, but a listing or brand name alone does not establish that a part fits a particular car. See Dodge’s Challenger information page and verify the proposed application with the catalog, dealer or manufacturer.
What parts fit your year and trim?
Fitment is specific to the vehicle and the part. A Hellcat badge or a broad model name is not enough to confirm compatibility; check the model year, body, trim and engine, and use the VIN when the seller or dealer offers VIN-based verification. Confirm that the catalog application and installation instructions match the car before ordering.

Challenger production ended December 31, 2023, according to Dodge. Owners are therefore choosing parts for existing vehicles, and stock or fitment information can vary. An online listing, including one that names a Challenger year, is not by itself proof of compatibility. For example, the Mopar eStore listing for a 2023 Challenger supercharger does not provide vehicle fitment data that would support recommending it for a specific Hellcat.
What does the official Hellcat Stage I example show?
Direct Connection’s Hellcat Stage I kit instructions are a useful illustration of why prerequisites and exact applications matter. The document, K6865017AA, is dated April 27, 2023, and names 6.2L Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat applications. It states: “The installation of a Hellcat Pre-Stage Kit is required to install the Hellcat Stage I Kit onto your vehicle.” The document also says revision suffixes may change and directs readers to a dealer or Direct Connection hotline for the latest released part number.

These are the applications and numbers shown in the April 27, 2023 Stage I installation instructions; they are not a general compatibility chart for every Hellcat year or every modification. Confirm the current released number and the kit’s fitment with a dealer or Direct Connection before ordering.
The same instructions list a 24 mm hex bit socket among the required special tools. That is a tool requirement for this particular documented procedure, not a recommendation for a first modification or a tool list for unrelated work. Confirm the kit applies to your vehicle and follow its current instructions before buying tools or attempting installation.

Will modifications void your Hellcat warranty?
Not automatically in every case. Mopar says warranty terms vary by brand and vehicle, and that coverage may be restricted or denied if a vehicle or part has been modified, improperly maintained or removed. The effect depends on the applicable warranty and the circumstances; do not assume either that every modification cancels all coverage or that a particular change has no effect.
Read the warranty document for your vehicle and ask the dealer or warranty provider about the specific part and work you are considering. Mopar’s warranty information page directs owners to terms that vary by vehicle.

Are Hellcat mods street legal in your state?
Check the exact part’s emissions certification and the rules where the car will be registered and driven. The Stage I kit materials include a CARB EO label, but that does not establish that other parts, different configurations or unrelated modifications are legal in your jurisdiction. Confirm the applicable approval for the complete proposed setup before installation; a label or approval associated with one kit should not be treated as blanket permission for other changes.
How to make a sound purchase decision
Before ordering, make sure you can answer each of these questions:
Best Value
- Fits: 2015 2016 2017 2018 2019 2020 Dodge Challenger [R/T 392; R/T Scat Pack; SRT 392; SRT Hellcat; SRT Super Stock] | 2015 2016 2017 2018 2019 2020 Dodge Charger [SRT 392; SRT Hellcat; Daytona 392; Scat Pack]
- Does the part’s documented application match the car’s year, model, trim and engine?
- Are there prerequisites, companion parts or a required installation procedure?
- Have you checked the warranty terms that apply to this vehicle and asked how the planned work may affect coverage?
- For road use, have you verified emissions certification and local requirements for this exact part and configuration?
- Are current stock, part-number revisions, tools and installer requirements confirmed?
If any answer is unclear, pause and verify it with Mopar, Direct Connection or a dealer before buying. That is more reliable than treating a generic “Hellcat” fitment label as confirmation.
