If you are in the United States, an active Apple TV subscription includes F1 TV Premium at no additional charge in 2026. You can watch Formula 1 in the Apple TV app, then link your Apple Account through f1.com/apple to use the dedicated F1 TV app and website as well.
You do not need an Apple TV 4K box to claim the benefit. “Apple TV” in this guide means Apple’s streaming subscription; Apple TV 4K is optional hardware for watching on a television and using Apple’s supported F1 multiview feature.

This arrangement is specifically documented for U.S. viewers. It should not be treated as a worldwide rule for Apple TV or F1 TV.

How to activate F1 TV through Apple TV
- Confirm that your Apple TV subscription is active. On the device or browser where you manage Apple subscriptions, verify that the subscription has not expired or been canceled. If you receive Apple TV through Apple One or another qualifying offer, confirm that the Apple TV benefit is active.
- Sign in with the correct Apple Account. Open the Apple TV app and make sure it uses the Apple Account attached to the paid subscription. Using a different Apple Account is one of the most likely reasons the F1 entitlement does not appear.
- Open Formula 1 in the Apple TV app. Select the Formula 1 section, then choose a live event, replay, or other available program. Apple’s TV guide documents live coverage, full and condensed replays, pre- and post-event programming, multiple feeds, and English- or Spanish-language commentary.
- Follow any onscreen activation prompt. If the Apple TV app does not immediately recognize the entitlement, use the subscription or linking instructions shown on screen rather than starting a separate F1 TV subscription.
- Link the account for the dedicated F1 TV experience. Go to the official Apple-to-F1 activation page and choose the activation or linking option. Follow the prompts to connect the Apple Account with an F1 account.
- Sign in to F1 TV. After linking is complete, open the F1 TV app or visit the official F1 TV website. Sign in through the linked account flow and test a live session or replay.
Apple identifies the linking route as the way U.S. Apple TV subscribers can access F1 TV Premium. If you only want to watch inside Apple’s app, the separate F1 TV activation may not be necessary.
What the included F1 TV Premium access provides
The entitlement is described as F1 TV Premium, not simply access to a limited selection of race clips. F1 highlights Premium features including custom multiview, UHD video, team radio, and enhanced race feeds. Availability of particular feeds, resolution, language options, and features can depend on the device, event, account, and current service terms; consult F1’s official subscription page for the current feature list.
Inside the Apple TV app, U.S. subscribers can access every Free Practice session, Qualifying, Sprint, and Grand Prix. Apple also notes that some practice sessions and selected race-weekend content may be promotional or available to watch without a paid subscription, so the lock or availability shown for a specific event is the most reliable guide.

Do you need an Apple TV 4K box?
No. The Apple TV subscription and the Apple TV 4K hardware are separate things. Apple says its TV app is available on Apple devices, Android, Windows, compatible smart TVs, streaming devices, gaming consoles, and the web. You can therefore use the subscription without buying Apple hardware.
The hardware becomes relevant if you want Apple’s television-based F1 multiview. Apple specifies that its multiview feature requires an Apple TV 4K running tvOS 16.5 or later, plus an Apple TV subscription. It can combine up to four live streams, including driver-view cameras, course maps, and other F1 feeds. Not every Apple TV device supports this feature.
Optional hardware for television viewing
If you want the Apple TV app on a television and specifically want Apple’s supported multiview setup, you can compare the Apple TV 4K for F1 multiview. It is optional: it does not provide the Apple TV subscription by itself, and buying the box is not required to activate F1 TV Premium.

F1 TV separately lists support for the web, mobile apps, Google TV, Apple TV, Roku, and Amazon Fire TV. Device compatibility can change, so check the current requirements before buying hardware.
How to share the benefit with family members
Apple says an Apple TV subscription can be shared with up to five other family members through Apple Family Sharing. Each person should open the Apple TV app while signed in to the Apple Account associated with the family group. The F1 access and account-linking experience may still require the appropriate family member to follow the activation prompts.

What to do if F1 TV content is still locked
There is no single guaranteed fix for every account-linking error, but this sequence checks the entitlement in the order most likely to matter:
- Check the subscription status. Confirm that the Apple TV subscription is active, paid, and attached to the expected Apple Account.
- Check the Apple Account in the Apple TV app. Sign out only if necessary, then sign back in with the account that holds the subscription. Apple’s support guidance requires the device or app to use the Apple Account used for the subscription.
- Repeat the official linking flow. Return to f1.com/apple and complete the activation prompts again. Avoid purchasing a second F1 TV plan before confirming whether the existing entitlement can be linked.
- Refresh the F1 TV session. Sign out of F1 TV, close and reopen the app or browser, and sign back in using the linked F1 account flow.
- Try the Apple TV app first. If a live event or replay plays in the Apple TV app but remains locked in F1 TV, the problem is more likely related to the account-linking session than to the Apple TV subscription itself.
- Check region and event availability. The Apple/F1 offer described here is U.S.-only, and individual content can have different availability or promotional status.
Apple’s official documentation establishes the entitlement and linking route but does not publish a complete troubleshooting matrix for every activation error. If the account remains incorrectly locked after these checks, contact Apple or Formula 1 support with the Apple Account region, subscription status, and the exact screen or error message—without sending your password.

Use Formula 1’s official broadcaster directory to find the current option for your country. Do not assume that subscribing to Apple TV in another region will unlock the U.S. F1 entitlement.
