Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteJeep Easter eggs are hidden design details, not a single feature that appears in the same place on every vehicle. Depending on the model, year, trim, market, and equipment, you may find a miniature seven-slot grille, a Willys silhouette, an animal, a map, Morse code, or a message.
Start with the windshield and cowl, then check the fuel door, lights, mirrors, speakers, storage areas, wheels, and infotainment screens. The search is easiest with the Jeep parked in daylight and a flashlight available for markings molded into dark plastic.

Where to look first
Use this search order before assuming your Jeep does not have an Easter egg. Most of these details are small and can be difficult to see from the driver’s seat.
- Windshield corners and cowl: Check the lower corners of the windshield glass, especially the passenger side. Then inspect the plastic or metal panel beneath the wiper arms. The original Jeep Easter egg, introduced with the 1997 Wrangler TJ, was a miniature seven-slot grille molded into the cowl.
- Fuel-filler door: Open the flap and inspect its inside surface and the surrounding filler area. The Jeep Renegade, for example, has a spider graphic with the Italian message “Ciao Baby”.
- Headlights, mirrors, and speakers: Look through headlight housings, around mirror caps, and across speaker grilles. Seven-slot grille motifs are commonly used in these areas.
- Rear glass: Examine the bottom corners of the rear windows from both inside and outside. Etched or printed graphics can be nearly invisible until light hits them at an angle.
- Storage compartments: Open the center-console lid, inspect the glovebox and door pockets, and lift removable cargo-floor panels or floor mats. Jeep often places Easter eggs in small functional spaces.
- Controls and trim: Check the steering-wheel center, shifter, wheels, and mats. These details are especially dependent on trim and equipment.
- Displays: If your Jeep has the relevant technology, check the instrument-cluster startup animation and the Off Road Pages screen for small Willys or Jeep graphics.
Do not pry off panels or remove the windshield to search. The detail should be visible with normal inspection. A soft cloth and flashlight are safer than a screwdriver, and cleaning black plastic or glass can reveal a marking that was hidden by dust.

Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator Easter eggs
Wrangler and Gladiator models have some of the most recognizable hidden details, but the exact list changes by generation and configuration.
- A seven-slot grille may be molded into the cowl beneath the windshield.
- Many JL-generation Wranglers have a small 1941 Willys silhouette in the lower passenger-side windshield corner.
- Some Wranglers feature Morse code in the rear cargo area.
- The instrument cluster may show a Willys graphic during startup. Look under Trip Information if your cluster provides that menu.
- A small Jeep graphic may appear in Off Road Pages on the center display.
- Willys or classic Jeep graphics may appear on wheels, shifters, and all-weather mats.
Screen-based details depend on the trim, technology package, and software configuration. If you do not see the graphic in Trip Information or Off Road Pages, that does not automatically indicate a fault.
Compass locations
On documented Jeep Compass models, inspect the molded area at the base of the windshield, beneath the wiper region. A gecko has also been used there. Next, examine the lower portion of the rear window for a Loch Ness Monster imprint.

These examples are associated with particular Compass generations and designs, so a newer or differently equipped Compass may not contain both details.
Renegade locations
The Renegade is known for using several small graphics throughout the vehicle. The easiest one to find is inside the fuel-filler door: open the door and look for the spider and “Ciao Baby” message.
Also check the windshield for an original Jeep silhouette, mirror and trim areas for seven-slot grille motifs, and interior panels for additional graphics or messages. Because the Renegade’s details vary with market and equipment, use the vehicle’s exact model year when comparing photographs or owner guides online.

Grand Cherokee locations
Newer Grand Cherokee models have been documented with a seven-slot grille motif beneath the center-console lid and a Willys silhouette inside the fuel-door area. Inspect the rear side glass as well; some versions include Willys imagery there.
Selected configurations also use Detroit and Woodward Avenue map details. These may be integrated into trim rather than presented as a bright, obvious decal, so view the panel from several angles.
Why you might not find an Easter egg
| Possible reason | What it means |
|---|---|
| Different model year or generation | The location or design may have changed, or the vehicle may not have that detail. |
| Trim or equipment difference | A graphic tied to a specific wheel, mat, screen, mirror, or interior part may not be fitted to your Jeep. |
| Regional variation | A Jeep sold in another market may use different parts or graphics. |
| Replacement part | A replacement windshield, mat, wheel, mirror, or trim panel may not include the original factory marking. |
| Aftermarket accessories | Non-factory mats and trim can add designs that resemble official Easter eggs. |
| Poor visibility | Etched glass, black molded plastic, and markings behind flaps often need direct light to become visible. |
Jeep does not publish one complete checklist for every vehicle. That is partly because the details are intentionally varied and partly because there are too many combinations of model, generation, trim, and market. The most reliable comparison is with another Jeep of the same model year and specification.

What a Jeep Easter egg is not
There is normally no secret button sequence or software code that unlocks the physical Easter eggs. Most are already present as molded, etched, printed, or integrated design details. Some newer Jeeps display heritage graphics during startup or inside Off Road Pages, but those are equipment-dependent features rather than a universal hidden mode.
It is also incorrect to expect every Jeep to contain an animal. A Renegade may have a spider, a Compass may have a gecko or Loch Ness Monster, and other Jeeps may use grilles, maps, silhouettes, or messages instead. The commonly reported figure in the lower windshield corner is generally a Willys or Jeep silhouette, not a spider; the spider is particularly associated with the Renegade’s fuel-filler area.

A quick inspection checklist
For a fast search, work through this list:
- Clean the lower windshield corners and inspect the cowl.
- Open the fuel-filler door.
- Check the headlights, mirror housings, and speaker grilles.
- Inspect the rear-window corners.
- Open the console and storage compartments.
- Lift removable mats and cargo-floor panels.
- Examine the steering wheel, shifter, wheels, and factory mats.
- Check Trip Information and Off Road Pages if those menus are installed.
Take a photograph of anything you find and compare it with factory photographs or documentation for the same model and year. That helps separate an original Jeep detail from an aftermarket sticker or replacement part.

FAQ
Where is the Easter egg on a Jeep Wrangler?
There is no single location on every Wrangler. Start with the lower windshield corners and the cowl beneath the wipers, then check the rear cargo area, steering wheel, shifter, wheels, mats, and—if equipped—the Trip Information and Off Road Pages screens.
Does every Jeep have a hidden Easter egg?
No. Jeep Easter eggs vary by model, generation, trim, market, and equipment. A replacement part or aftermarket accessory can also remove or obscure one.
What is the spider inside the Jeep fuel door?
The spider with the words “Ciao Baby” is a well-known Jeep Renegade Easter egg located inside the fuel-filler door. It is not a universal feature on all Jeep models.

Can you activate a Jeep Easter egg with a button sequence?
Usually not. Most Jeep Easter eggs are physical graphics, molded details, or etched markings. Some vehicles show heritage graphics on startup or in Off Road Pages, but availability depends on the vehicle’s equipment and software.
The Bottom Line
Search the windshield and cowl first, then the fuel door, lights, mirrors, speakers, rear glass, storage compartments, trim, and vehicle screens. Expect differences: a Wrangler’s detail may be a seven-slot grille or Willys silhouette, while a Renegade may hide a “Ciao Baby” spider and a Compass may use a gecko or Loch Ness Monster. If nothing appears, check the exact model year, trim, and factory equipment before treating the missing detail as a problem.
