The Suzuki Hayabusa has become easier to manage through adjustable power delivery, electronic rider aids and features that reduce routine workload—not by becoming a small or beginner-oriented motorcycle. The third-generation model, introduced for 2022, brought ride-by-wire and a broader control suite; later model-year updates have refined selected settings. Suzuki describes the intended benefits, but the available manufacturer information does not establish how much easier the bike feels in independent real-world testing.
What changed with the third-generation Hayabusa?
Suzuki introduced the all-new 2022-model Hayabusa in November 2020, emphasizing smoother acceleration and more rider-control features. Its launch materials listed ride-by-wire, adjustable power delivery, traction control, cruise control, launch control, a quick shifter, Motion Track ABS and combined braking. Suzuki also described a reworked twin-spar frame, adjustable KYB suspension, revised aerodynamics and wind protection, and improved brakes. Ride-by-wire is central because it replaces a direct mechanical throttle connection with electronic throttle control. Suzuki says this enables precise engine control and supports the connected systems; the company characterizes the response as light, natural and linear. How can riders tailor the bike’s response?
Suzuki’s S.I.R.S. (Suzuki Intelligent Ride System) groups controls for power delivery, traction, anti-lift behavior, engine braking, transmission operation and braking support. The Drive Mode Selector Alpha (SDMS-α) offers three factory presets and three rider-defined combinations of power mode, traction control, anti-lift control, engine-brake control and quick-shift settings. The presets are selectable calibrations, not different levels of motorcycle size or performance. A less aggressive setting may suit a particular ride, but the existence of rider aids does not establish that the Hayabusa is beginner-friendly.
Which features reduce routine rider effort?
Clutchless gear changes
The bi-directional quick shifter allows clutchless upshifts and downshifts; conventional shifting remains possible. Suzuki also describes hydraulic clutch activation and a clutch-assist system intended to lighten the lever pull and smooth downshifts. These features reduce clutch use and effort in specific situations, but the rider still needs appropriate shifting and throttle technique. Cruise control
Cruise control holds a selected speed without requiring the rider to keep pressure on the throttle. Suzuki Motor USA lists a setting range of approximately 20–125 mph (31–200 km/h), subject to second gear or higher and specified engine-speed conditions. For the 2026 US model, Suzuki says Smart Cruise Control remains active when the rider changes gear using the bi-directional quick shifter. Suzuki Canada also describes this behavior as continuing from a 2025 change. Those are market- and model-year-specific descriptions; confirm local specifications before assuming the same behavior elsewhere. Starting and low-speed support
Suzuki lists Easy Start and Low RPM Assist among the S.I.R.S. features, along with hill-hold control. The Canadian description says hill-hold temporarily applies the rear brake after an uphill stop to help prevent rollback during a restart. How do traction and braking aids help—and what can’t they do?
Motion Track Traction Control uses electronic intervention to help manage traction, while anti-lift control and launch control address other aspects of acceleration. Motion Track ABS uses inertial measurement unit (IMU) posture data alongside wheel-speed information to support braking when the motorcycle is leaned over, according to Suzuki’s system description. What changed on the 2026 model?
Suzuki Canada says the 2026 Hayabusa has revised launch-control and power-mode settings, with more distinct torque at low throttle. Its page lists launch-control limits of 4,000, 6,000 and 8,000 rpm. Suzuki also points to wind protection, relaxed ergonomics, adjustable suspension and a smoother, more stable ride as parts of the Hayabusa’s comfort story. These are manufacturer descriptions; they do not establish how the bike will fit an individual rider or feel on a particular road. Seat reach, riding posture, wind exposure and suspension preferences are personal, so an in-person fit and ride are more informative than feature lists alone.
