City Transformer said the wider stance was intended to maximize stability and paired it with a stated top speed of 90 km/h; the company did not publish independent measurements showing how much stability the change adds.
How the CT-1 changes width
City Transformer described the CT-1 as a two-seat, four-wheel electric microcar with an “intelligent wheelbase” that changes the vehicle’s dimensions. In its 17 October 2022 announcement, the company said the wheel track could contract from 1.4 m to 1.0 m. The narrower setting was intended to help the car fit into small parking spaces and move through urban traffic; the wider setting was designated performance mode.
The company’s December 2022 design-award announcement described the transformation as a way to “thread through traffic or maximize stability.” That explains the design rationale, but it is not proof of a measured handling or safety improvement: the cited material does not give a stability metric, test conditions, comparison vehicle or quantified result.

These figures come from the company’s 2022 CT-1 announcement, which said final specifications remained subject to confirmation while the vehicle entered final prototype tests and assessment. They are manufacturer-published figures, not independent test results.

What the wider stance does—and what is established
Changing track width gives the CT-1 a narrow configuration for city use and a wider one for faster driving. City Transformer presented that wider stance as a way to maximize stability. However, the company material cited here does not establish how the car behaves in a measured maneuver, whether the change improves stability under particular conditions, or whether the CT-1 is safer than another vehicle at speed.
The 2022 announcement also said company tests showed the CT-1 was much safer than scooters and e-bikes, but the cited passage provides no test details. That remains a City Transformer claim, not an independently documented comparative safety finding.

CT-1 specifications and model-year distinction
City Transformer’s CT-1 product page lists a 90 km/h top speed, 120–180 km range, 15 kW power, front and rear disc brakes, and acceleration from 0 to 50 km/h in five seconds. These are current specifications as stated on the company product page; they should not be read as independent measurements.
The company also now refers to the CT-2 as the next generation. Its CT-2 article describes a 1.0 m city configuration and a 1.3 m performance configuration, with stated speeds of 40 km/h in city mode and up to 90 km/h in performance mode. Those are CT-2 descriptions and should not be substituted for the CT-1’s 1.0 m/1.4 m widths and 45 km/h/90 km/h figures.

Availability and historical announcements
City Transformer’s October and December 2022 announcements targeted series production in 2024. The October announcement also described a refundable €150 preorder deposit and a limited early price. Those were historical targets and offer terms; the cited sources do not establish current CT-1 production, deliveries, ordering or pricing.
