The Chevrolet Corvette C8 Z06 completed the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 7:11.826. Chevrolet says the U.S. production-spec, Z07-equipped car set the lap on June 27, 2025, with vehicle performance manager Aaron Link driving; the circuit’s record listing confirms the time, driver and date. Whether that is “less than you’d hope” is a matter of expectations, not a measured result.
What was the C8 Z06’s Nürburgring lap time?
The Z06 recorded 7:11.826 on the Nordschleife on June 27, 2025. Chevrolet announced the result on July 31, 2025, and the Nürburgring’s record page lists the same time and driver, Aaron Link.
Chevrolet described the car as U.S. production-spec and fitted with the Z07 Performance Package. The circuit categorizes the run as Prototype/Pre-Production: Chevrolet says the Z06 was a North American variant, while the other two Corvettes in the announcement were not sold in Europe. “Production-spec” therefore does not mean an entirely unmodified car or the same vehicle category used for every production-car record.
How does the Z06 compare with the faster Corvettes?
In its July 2025 announcement, Chevrolet also reported Nordschleife times for the ZR1 and ZR1X. The Z06 was more than 20 seconds behind each, but these are different Corvette variants, not a controlled comparison of trims under matched conditions.

Times and configurations are as reported by Chevrolet on July 31, 2025; the differences are arithmetic based on those reported times. Chevrolet’s comparison table gives the Z06 670 horsepower. The time gap shows where the Z06 sat in that announcement’s Corvette lineup, but it does not establish what a Z06 ought to run against other cars.
What equipment and safety changes did the lap car have?
Chevrolet says the record-attempt cars retained U.S. production specifications, with safety equipment recommended by the circuit: a roll hoop, full-containment race seat, fire extinguisher and six-point safety harness. Those additions are relevant context when describing the run as production-spec.

The Z06 was equipped with the Z07 Performance Package. Chevrolet lists available carbon-fiber wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R summer-only tires and carbon-ceramic brakes in this configuration. The package and those components should not be treated as standard equipment on every Z06. Buyers considering the Cup 2 R should verify tire size and exact fitment for their model year and wheel setup.
Does 7:11.826 mean the Z06 underperformed?
Not by itself. A lap time only supports a meaningful ranking when the comparison uses the same Nordschleife configuration and conventions and accounts for vehicle category, preparation, driver and conditions. Chevrolet’s three entries were placed in the Prototype/Pre-Production category; the sources establishing the Z06 time do not provide a like-for-like competitor comparison that would define a reasonable expected time.

Chevrolet’s current Z06 page advertises 0–60 mph in as little as 2.6 seconds and a 195-mph track top speed when equipped with the available Z07 package. Chevrolet quoted GM President Mark Reuss saying, “No auto manufacturer has done a Nürburgring lap attempt like this before.” That is the automaker’s characterization of its effort, not an independently verified record category. The Nürburgring’s listing independently confirms the specific Z06 lap time, driver and date.
