Chery’s latest disclosure puts initial vehicle integration testing of its Rhino S solid-state battery in 2027, not 2026. A March 2026 industry report identified the Exeed ES8 as the expected test vehicle, but Chery’s later disclosure does not name a model, so that detail remains secondary reporting rather than a confirmed company announcement.
When will Chery test its solid-state battery in a vehicle?
Chery’s September 7, 2026 ESG disclosure says initial vehicle integration testing for its Rhino S solid-state battery module is planned for 2027. That is the latest timing stated by the company in the sources available here; it does not confirm a 2026 test.
The distinction matters: integration testing is a development milestone, not evidence that a production vehicle or retail battery pack is ready. Chery’s disclosure describes a planned test and does not provide a launch date.
Is the Exeed ES8 the test vehicle?
CnEVPost reported on March 18, 2026, that the Exeed ES8 was expected to serve as the 2027 test vehicle. Chery’s September disclosure names no vehicle, so the ES8 identification has not been confirmed in the later company statement. Read it as industry reporting, not a settled specification or launch announcement. CnEVPost’s March 2026 report

What Chery has said about Rhino S energy density
The reported figures have changed in both status and wording. Chery’s September 2026 disclosure says the Rhino S module has achieved 400 Wh/kg and is advancing toward a 600 Wh/kg target. That is the clearest current company statement; it does not say the 600 Wh/kg target has been reached.
An earlier Chery ESG report, filed through HKEX News on April 2, 2026, described the module unveiled in 2025 as having 600 Wh/kg cell energy density and also placed vehicle integration testing in 2027. Because the later disclosure describes 400 Wh/kg as achieved and 600 Wh/kg as a target, the two statements should not be combined into one confirmed, current specification. - SEMI-SOLID-STATE SAFETY, BUILT FOR TRAVEL: Semi-solid-state cells hold a fraction of the flammable liquid in ordinary lithium-ion and resist thermal failure. In internal testing, the cells were puncture, cut and drill tested with no fire. The aluminum housing is highly thermally conductive, helping draw heat away from the cells and dissipate it during charging. Under 100Wh, it's airline carry-on ready.
- ALL-DAY POWER, STILL POCKETABLE: A full 10,000mAh gives a typical iPhone roughly 1.5 to 2 charges - plenty for long travel days, events and back-to-back workdays without chasing an outlet. The dense semi-solid state design (a paired 5,000mAh + 5,000mAh layout) keeps the pack slim enough to slip into a jacket pocket or bag. The built-in lanyard doubles as a USB-C cable, so a charging cord is always attached - nothing extra to pack or lose.
- QI2-CERTIFIED 15W MAGNETIC CHARGING: A strong, precisely aligned magnet snaps onto iPhone 17, 16, 15, 14, 13 and 12 with precise alignment and a strong hold, so you can keep using your phone while it charges. As a Qi2-certified, MagSafe-compatible charger, the magnetic connection keeps the charger aligned while you scroll, text, or move.
- DUAL USB-C, UP TO 30W OUTPUT: Two USB-C ports let you charge several devices at once and deliver up to 30W of fast wired power for phones, earbuds and tablets. The same port also refills the 10K itself quickly, so it's ready for the next day. (Large tablets and laptops draw more and may only charge partially.)
- FULL-COLOR LCD DISPLAY: A crisp color screen shows exact battery percentage plus live input and output wattage, so you always know how much power is left and how fast each device is charging - no blinking LEDs to decode. It stays easy to read at a glance, whether you're commuting, at an event, on a shoot or working late.
These figures also refer to a module or cell, depending on the statement—not a verified energy-density figure for a complete vehicle battery pack. CnEVPost’s March report further described a 400 Wh/kg sulfide-based cell and a 600 Wh/kg polymer-based cell, but those chemistry details are secondary reporting and are not specified in Chery’s later ESG update. Chery’s 2026 Battery Night claims, as relayed by CnEVPost and Chery Australia, included potential range of more than 1,500 km. This is a company-stated potential, not a reported test result from a production vehicle. The cited sources do not specify a comparable test cycle for the figure, so it should not be treated as a guaranteed real-world range or directly compared with vehicles tested under a named standard.

- WORLD'S THINNEST SEMI-SOLID-STATE 5,000MAH: At just 6.8mm at its thinnest point, the Air is the slimmest semi-solid-state Qi2 power bank you can buy — the semi-solid-state design supports this slim form factor while helping the cells stay stable and reducing fire risk. It sits flush against your iPhone and slips into a pocket, slim bag or clutch. TechRadar Pro CES 2026 Picks Award Winner.
- SEMI-SOLID-STATE SAFETY, BUILT FOR TRAVEL: Unlike conventional lithium-ion banks with a flammable liquid electrolyte, SolidSafe Air's semi-solid-state cells sharply cut the liquid component — lowering risk at the cell level and staying stable under heat, stress and impact. It's not a circuit-only fix but a fundamental change in chemistry. At 18.5Wh, it's airline carry-on ready.
- 15W QI2 MAGNETIC + 20W USB-C: Qi2-certified, MagSafe-compatible magnetic charging snaps onto iPhone 17, 16, 15, 14, 13 and 12 with precise, secure alignment, while the USB-C port delivers up to 20W when you're in a hurry. The 5,000mAh cell gives a modern iPhone roughly one full top-up, and you can charge wired and wireless at the same time.
- TITANIUM SHELL, BUILT TO LAST: A titanium-reinforced shell resists dents and drops, and titanium's high thermal conductivity helps draw heat away from the cells and dissipate it at the surface during charging. It's premium protection that keeps the Air tough and travel-ready in a remarkably slim form.
- CCC CERTIFIED FOR TRAVEL: CCC certified for battery compliance and travel in China, with FCC, CE and UKCA listings for other regions. Built-in circuit safeguards cover overcharge, over-discharge, overcurrent and short circuits. Magnetic charging suits MagSafe iPhones or a thin compatible case; for Pixel and other Android phones, use a magnetic case or the 20W USB-C port.
Chery Australia described 400 Wh/kg as a current prototype figure, 600 Wh/kg as a roadmap target, and the range as potential. Those are company claims; the cited coverage does not provide independent validation of the battery’s energy density or vehicle range. Chery Australia’s March 2026 summary
Quick Recap
What the announcement does—and does not—establish
- Established by Chery: Rhino S is a developing battery technology; the September 2026 disclosure reports 400 Wh/kg achieved, a 600 Wh/kg target, and planned initial vehicle integration testing in 2027.
- Reported, but not confirmed in that later disclosure: CnEVPost identified the Exeed ES8 as the expected 2027 test vehicle.
- Not established by the cited sources: a confirmed 2026 vehicle test, a production-ready Rhino S pack, a retail launch date, independent validation of the density figures, or a verified production-vehicle result above 1,500 km.
