Stellantis and Infineon announced a planned collaboration on power architecture for Stellantis electric vehicles—not a finished redesign or a measured improvement in range. The November 7, 2024 announcement covers supply and capacity agreements for Infineon PROFET smart power switches and CoolSiC silicon-carbide devices, plus AURIX microcontrollers aimed at the first generation of Stellantis’ STLA Brain zonal architecture. The companies also said they were working toward a Joint Power Lab to define a scalable, intelligent power architecture for software-defined vehicles.
What the collaboration covers
The announcement addresses vehicle electrical and electronic architecture and semiconductor supply, rather than a consumer accessory or a specific vehicle model. Stellantis and Infineon described planned work spanning power conversion, low-voltage power distribution, and zonal control. Their stated goals include lower costs, improved energy efficiency, a better driver experience, and greater vehicle range; these are objectives, not reported results. Infineon’s announcement and Stellantis’ announcement were published November 7, 2024.
How the named components fit into an EV
The three product families address different layers of the vehicle’s electrical system. They are not interchangeable components.

The component roles are described in Stellantis’ announcement and Infineon’s Q1 FY2025 investor presentation, dated February 4, 2025. The presentation provides additional product context; it does not establish that every described capability is implemented in a Stellantis vehicle.

What zonal architecture means for power distribution
A zonal architecture organizes some vehicle control and electrical functions around physical regions of the vehicle rather than relying only on separate controllers for individual functions. A zone control unit can bring together communications, power distribution and conversion, load actuation, and sensing.
Infineon describes a vehicle power distribution unit as controlling energy flow through the electrical/electronic architecture. A primary unit can distribute low-voltage battery power to secondary units, zone controllers, and high-power electronic control units; secondary units then distribute power to low-voltage loads. Semiconductor switches can replace mechanical fuses and support remote fault management, according to Infineon’s power distribution unit overview and zonal architecture overview. These are descriptions of the broader architecture, not confirmation that each feature is part of Stellantis’ planned implementation.

What is known—and what has not been established
Announced plans
- The companies announced supply and capacity agreements for PROFET and CoolSiC products.

The announcement also attributed an approximately 29 percent share of the global automotive microcontroller market to TechInsights in 2024. That is the figure reported in the November 7, 2024 release, not an independently confirmed current market share.
