That growth helps explain why the brand is often described as a global big-bike success—but the available figures do not prove that any Royal Enfield model is the world’s top-selling big bike. Eicher Motors, Royal Enfield’s parent, positions the brand as a leader in the 250cc–750cc middleweight segment; that is a company claim, not an independently verified worldwide sales ranking.
What “top-selling big bike” means in this case
The headline’s wording needs a distinction: Royal Enfield’s reported totals cover the brand’s motorcycles, not one model, and they do not compare global model-by-model sales across manufacturers. The evidence supports a substantial and growing business in the middleweight category, not a verified title for the world’s best-selling big bike.

Sales grew for two consecutive fiscal years
Royal Enfield’s reported annual volume crossed one million in FY2024–25 and rose again in FY2025–26. Fiscal years here end on March 31; the totals are company-reported sales, not registrations in every country.

The FY2024–25 figures were reported by Eicher Motors on April 1, 2025; FY2025–26 figures come from its audited results released May 22, 2026. Why are Royal Enfield motorcycles so popular?
The documented growth story combines a long manufacturing history, a recognizable middleweight focus, multiple model families, rising export volumes, and investment in capacity and retail reach. These are plausible parts of the brand’s expansion, but the cited company information does not quantify how much each factor contributed to sales.

A long-running brand with a manufacturing foothold in India
Eicher says Royal Enfield has made motorcycles since 1901 and established a manufacturing plant in Madras in 1955. The company presents that history as part of the brand’s role in India’s mid-sized two-wheeler segment. A focused segment with several riding styles
Royal Enfield’s range spans 350cc, 450cc and 650cc classes. Models identified in Eicher’s overview include the Classic 350, Bullet 350 and Hunter 350; the Himalayan 450 and Guerrilla 450; and the 650 twins. That spread gives the brand products aimed at different riding preferences while retaining a middleweight emphasis. The available figures do not break out annual sales by model or class.
Individual model milestones—and what they do not show
By the end of FY2024–25, Royal Enfield reported that cumulative sales had passed 500,000 for the Hunter 350 and 50,000 for the Super Meteor 650. These are lifetime-to-date milestones, not sales for that year or rankings against other motorcycles. In the same release, Managing Director B. Govindarajan credited the response to the Bullet Battalion Black and new Classic 350, as well as the company’s response to rider feedback through variants. Exports and an expanding international presence
Exports rose 37% in FY2024–25 and 20% in FY2025–26, according to Eicher’s releases. Its corporate overview says Royal Enfield operates in India and more than 65 countries, while later company releases describe an expanding overseas retail and assembly footprint. Community as part of the brand identity
Eicher describes Royal Enfield’s philosophy as “Pure Motorcycling” and highlights rider events including Motoverse and Himalayan Odyssey. In its May 22, 2026 results release, Eicher announced a ₹958 crore brownfield expansion at Cheyyar. The company said the project would raise stated annual capacity from 1.46 million to 2 million units. Brand strength is a different measure from motorcycle sales
A May 2026 Royal Enfield press note, citing Brand Finance’s Automotive Industry 2026 report, said the brand ranked third among the world’s strongest automobile brands, with a Brand Strength Index of 88.9/100 and an AAA rating. It also reported a 30% increase in brand value to USD 1.2 billion. Those measures concern brand strength and value; they are not a ranking of motorcycle units sold. The evidence supports growth, not a proven worldwide bestseller title
Royal Enfield’s rise is visible in its reported sales: 1,009,900 motorcycles in FY2024–25 followed by 1,227,977 in FY2025–26. The available evidence also documents domestic demand, export growth, model milestones, a broad middleweight portfolio and planned capacity expansion. But it does not provide comparable worldwide sales for competing models, so it cannot establish that Royal Enfield—or one of its bikes—is the world’s top-selling big bike.
