For a U.S.-market 2024 Tesla, Kelley Blue Book’s current guide estimates are $30,000 resale and $29,600 trade-in for a Model 3, and $32,200 resale and $29,900 trade-in for a Model Y. These are estimates—not guaranteed sale prices or dealer offers—and apply to specific model-year benchmarks, not every two-year-old Tesla.
2024 Tesla value estimates: Model 3 vs. Model Y
Kelley Blue Book’s estimates, accessed October 8, 2026, distinguish between resale and trade-in value. The figures are U.S.-dollar guide values; the underlying results do not specify every vehicle-level input behind each estimate.

Edmunds displays broader used-value ranges for 2024 vehicles: $26,112–$44,314 for the Model 3 and $27,603–$43,499 for the Model Y. Edmunds says condition, mileage, and options affect the range; it is not an appraisal of a particular car. Model 3 values · Model Y values
Do not average the KBB and Edmunds figures: they are different publishers’ measures, with different inputs and methods. These values were surfaced on October 8, 2026, and can change; verify them when you are ready to sell or trade.

Why one 2024 Tesla can be worth much more than another
A model-year figure is only a starting point. Edmunds says its valuation draws on dealer transaction data, depreciation costs for unique vehicles, and consumer information. Its listed inputs include year, model, trim, mileage, depreciation, and features. Edmunds valuation methodology
Before requesting a personalized estimate, gather:
- Exact model and trim
- Odometer reading
- Options and features
- Vehicle condition
- Location
The published figures do not establish how a particular location or individual vehicle changes the estimate. For that, use a current appraisal based on your car’s details.

Resale value and trade-in value are not the same
KBB lists resale and trade-in estimates separately. A resale estimate relates to selling the vehicle; a trade-in estimate is for trading it to a dealer. Edmunds describes trade-in value as what a dealer may offer when you trade a vehicle toward another one. Compare like with like: private-sale estimates against private-sale estimates, and trade-in offers against trade-in offers.
You can submit vehicle details through Tesla’s trade-in process. Tesla says a trade-in value may be deducted from the new Tesla purchase price before state sales tax is calculated, where applicable. Tax treatment depends on location and transaction, so do not assume that a trade-in produces the same tax result everywhere.

How to get a useful number for your Tesla
- Identify the exact vehicle. Record model, trim, mileage, options, condition, and location rather than entering only “2024 Tesla.”
- Get a personalized estimate. Use a valuation service such as Edmunds’ appraisal tool with the vehicle details you gathered.
- Request a real trade-in offer if you are trading. Submit the same vehicle information through Tesla’s trade-in channel or ask the dealer handling your purchase.
- Compare matching transaction types. A resale estimate does not tell you what a dealer will offer; compare the trade-in offer with trade-in estimates, and resale guidance with resale options.
