In the U.S., a professionally installed, street-oriented bolt-on supercharger project is commonly estimated at about $7,000–$15,000, while a high-power or custom build can reach $15,000–$25,000 or more. Those are 2026 cost-guide estimates, not guaranteed quotes or independently verified industry averages. Your actual total depends on the vehicle, kit contents, labor, tuning, and any supporting upgrades.
The key budgeting distinction is that a supercharger kit’s price is not the same as the cost of a complete installed-and-tuned project. Get an itemized quote for the kit, installation, calibration, required supporting parts, and applicable tax before comparing options.

What is a realistic installed supercharger budget?
ThePricer’s 2026 U.S.-oriented cost guide estimates roughly $7,000–$15,000 for a professionally installed bolt-on project aimed at street use. It puts high-power or custom builds at $15,000–$25,000+, associating the higher range with fabrication, tuning, fuel-system work, drivetrain changes, and other supporting parts. These are a guide’s estimates, not a universal rate or a formal industry average. ThePricer’s supercharger cost guide also estimates modern kits alone at $5,000–$10,500 or more before labor.

Published examples show why the range is broad: a current Ford kit can cost more than $10,000 before installation, while a shop’s bundled packages for selected older Toyota applications are priced below the broad project range. Neither example predicts what another vehicle will cost.

What makes up the total?
Kit and included hardware
A kit may include the supercharger, brackets, belt drive, intercooling, intake or fuel components, sensors, calibration hardware, and a tune—but not every package includes all of these. A tuner kit may leave the buyer responsible for additional parts or engine-management work. Compare the written contents list, not just the advertised starting price.
For a current catalog example, Ford Performance lists its F-150 5.0L supercharger kit at $10,250 and its Mustang GT/Dark Horse kit at $10,500. Those are kit catalog prices, not installed totals. Ford’s F-150 product page specifies fitment for 2021–2026 5.0L applications and says the kit includes Ford Performance calibration and a Tomahawk tool. Ford Performance F-150 kit details and Ford Performance supercharger catalog provide the application and product information.

Mechanical installation
Labor varies with the exact vehicle, kit, shop, and amount of disassembly or fabrication. HKS lists an estimated installation time of about eight hours for its specified Toyota 86, Subaru BRZ, and Scion FR-S kit, but that page is dated March 2017 and is an older application-specific example—not a current general labor benchmark. Ask the shop to state estimated labor hours, its hourly rate, and what work those hours cover. Clarify how the quote handles unexpected fitment issues or additional fabrication.

Calibration and tuning
Some systems include a manufacturer calibration; others require a separate tune or engine-management parts. For its F-150 kit, Ford says calibration and the Tomahawk tool are included. In its 2017 listing, HKS priced one version at $3,800 without engine-management parts and said fuel and ignition resetting was required; a $4,100 version included a flash editor. These historical HKS prices do not establish current pricing, but illustrate how package contents affect the buyer’s remaining tuning costs.
Ask whether the quoted calibration is included, whether it is supplied by the kit manufacturer or performed by the shop, and whether any programmer, ECU work, license, or dyno session is billed separately.

Supporting parts and other charges
Depending on the engine, power target, kit, and intended use, a build may need changes to fuel delivery, cooling, exhaust, electrical components, clutch, or drivetrain. These are not automatic requirements for every installation. Ask the shop to separate parts it considers necessary for the chosen setup from optional upgrades, and to explain the reason for each required item.

Ford specifies premium fuel of 91 octane or higher for the cited F-150 kit; that requirement applies to this example, not to every supercharger system. Ford also lists model-year-specific emissions certifications and describes conditional 3-year/36,000-mile Ford Performance warranty coverage when the kit is installed by a Ford dealer or ASE-certified technician. Check the product’s current terms and your vehicle’s eligibility rather than assuming those provisions transfer to another kit.

These figures are not directly interchangeable: some are kit-only prices, some are broad estimates, and some are bundled prices for specific older vehicles. Confirm current price, fitment, inclusions, and availability with the manufacturer or shop.
How to get quotes you can compare
- Specify the application: give each shop the vehicle’s year, make, model, engine, and transmission, and ask it to confirm fitment for the exact application or VIN in writing.
- Identify the kit type: ask whether the quote is for a complete system or a tuner kit. Get a list of included hardware, fuel components, intercooling, sensors, calibration, and tuning tools.
- Break out labor: request estimated hours, hourly rate, and a description of installation work, including any fabrication or extra disassembly.
- Define tuning: confirm whether calibration is included, who supplies or performs it, and whether dyno time, ECU work, software, or a programmer is extra.
- Separate required upgrades from options: ask which fuel, cooling, clutch, drivetrain, exhaust, or electrical parts are necessary for the particular setup and power goal, and which are discretionary.
- Check use restrictions and final charges: verify emissions and road-use status for your location, warranty conditions, required fuel grade, tax, and any other charges. Ask for the final estimate in writing.
A quote that lists only a kit price or a lump-sum labor figure is difficult to evaluate. An itemized estimate makes it easier to spot excluded tuning, supporting parts, or compliance requirements before work begins.
