When comparing a quote with these totals, check that you are comparing the same kind of work and time span. CarDekho’s numbers are five-year estimates; a workshop quote for one upcoming visit is not directly comparable unless you know which services and parts it includes. The listed prices exclude GST and extra labour, so ask whether a current quote includes taxes, labour and any additional work.
Why a used Xcent’s actual bill can differ
A schedule estimate describes planned servicing; a used-car bill also reflects what has already been done and what now needs attention. Two cars of the same variant can therefore arrive at a workshop with different needs. Before relying on a generic estimate, establish the vehicle’s model year, engine and transmission, odometer reading, last service date and odometer, and service history.
- Service history: Invoices and records help establish which scheduled work has been completed and when the next interval falls. Without them, the workshop may need to inspect the car and clarify its maintenance history before it can prepare a useful estimate.
- Use and driving conditions: The owner’s manual has separate normal and severe-use maintenance schedules. Repeated short trips, extended idling or low-speed driving, dusty or rough roads, heavy traffic, taxi or commercial use, and stop-and-go driving are among the severe conditions it identifies. Follow the applicable severe-use schedule where the car’s use fits it; maintenance may be needed more often than under normal use.
- Wear and condition: Normal wear items are distinct from routine scheduled servicing. Their replacement depends on the vehicle’s condition, not just a five-year service estimate.
- Location and quote details: Hyundai says its calculator’s estimates are indicative and can change by city. The selected workshop and what it includes in its quote also matter, so compare itemized estimates rather than headline totals alone.
For a used car with gaps in its records, do not assume that an earlier service was completed just because the odometer is now past an interval. Ask the seller for dated invoices and note the odometer readings on them. Those details can help a workshop determine what is documented, what may be due under the manual, and what needs inspection rather than treating the generic five-year estimate as a maintenance history.

Driving pattern matters as well as distance. The manual sets out service points by both kilometres and months, with whichever comes first governing. A car used for frequent short journeys, prolonged idling, heavy traffic or rough and dusty roads may fall under its severe-use guidance even if its odometer is relatively low. The manual calls for more frequent oil and filter changes under severe conditions, so an estimate based on normal use may not describe that car’s schedule.

Follow the schedule for the exact Xcent
The Hyundai Xcent owner’s manual provides separate normal maintenance schedules for petrol and diesel engines, with service points by both kilometre and month. Use whichever limit comes first. It also provides a separate schedule for severe use. The manual’s publication details indicate February 2017, so check that it matches the car’s model year, engine and variant instead of assuming its schedule applies unchanged to every Xcent.
Oil and the oil filter are scheduled maintenance items, and the manual says they need to be changed more frequently under severe conditions. It recommends having replacement carried out by an authorized Hyundai dealer. Do not choose an oil grade or filter based only on the model name: verify the specification against the correct manual for the car. The material here does not establish a single oil grade or filter fitment for every Xcent variant.
CarDekho’s displayed service table shows the following checkpoints. Its page labels the first three visits “free,” but lists nonzero totals for the second and third visits. Because those details do not align cleanly, do not interpret the label as proof that no charge is payable for every item at those visits; ask the workshop what is included and chargeable.

These are the intervals shown on that estimate page, not a substitute for checking the maintenance schedule in the manual applicable to the specific car. The same model name alone is not enough to identify the right schedule: match the manual to the vehicle’s model year, engine and variant, then check both the elapsed time and distance since the last documented service.

Separate routine service, wear items and repairs
Do not treat every workshop expense as scheduled servicing. The manual lists normal maintenance beyond free services and normal wear items among warranty exclusions. Examples it names include spark plugs, belts, brake pads or linings, filters and wiper blades. That means a scheduled-service estimate alone cannot establish the cost of replacing such items on an individual used car.
For a useful budget, ask the workshop to separate the work into three groups: scheduled maintenance due under the applicable manual; wear-item replacement recommended after inspection; and repairs for a fault or defect. This makes it easier to decide what is due now, what can be monitored, and what is unrelated to routine servicing. Check whether the particular car has any remaining vehicle-specific warranty rather than assuming a general coverage period.
Ask the workshop to connect each condition-based recommendation to an inspection finding. For instance, if it recommends a filter, belt, brake pad or wiper replacement, ask whether the item is due as scheduled maintenance or being recommended because of its observed condition. This distinction makes two quotes easier to compare and helps prevent a repair or wear-item estimate from being mistaken for the cost of routine service alone.
Warranty status is a separate question from maintenance cost. The manual’s exclusions cover normal maintenance beyond free services and normal wear items, but a used car may have its own remaining vehicle-specific coverage. How to get a current estimate for the car you are buying or own
- Gather the vehicle details. Note the registration or model year, petrol or diesel engine, transmission, odometer reading and any known symptoms. Find the date and odometer from the most recent service, plus invoices or other service records if available.
- Check the correct schedule. Match the Xcent owner’s manual to the car’s year and variant. Identify the next maintenance point by both time and distance, and use the severe-use schedule if its driving conditions apply.
- Use Hyundai’s calculator for a city-specific indication. On the Hyundai Motor India service calculator, select the vehicle details, fuel type, city and service interval where available. Hyundai states: “The above stated costs are indicative. Please contact your Hyundai authorized workshop for actual details.”
- Contact an authorized workshop. Share the vehicle details, relevant service history and symptoms. Ask it to confirm the calculator estimate and identify what work is due for this car, rather than quoting only a generic interval.
- Request an itemized quote. Ask the workshop to distinguish parts, labour and taxes, and to list condition-based repairs separately from scheduled maintenance. For each additional replacement it recommends, ask what inspection finding supports it and whether it is due now.
- Compare the written estimates. Confirm that quotes cover the same scheduled work and distinguish required items from optional recommendations. Check how each treats parts, labour, taxes and separate repairs before comparing totals.
For a used-car purchase, ask the seller for service invoices and records before using a five-year schedule figure to plan maintenance. Records make it possible to identify completed work and focus an inspection on outstanding maintenance and wear. If the records are incomplete, a workshop estimate based on the car’s actual condition is more useful than assuming that all earlier services were completed on time.
Hyundai’s calculator is a starting point for a current city-specific indication, not a final invoice. Its own wording says estimates are indicative and directs owners to an authorized workshop for actual details. When asking for confirmation, provide the car’s actual variant and service interval, then ask the workshop to explain any difference between the calculator estimate and its itemized quote.
