In short, the most useful number is the current, itemized quote for your vehicle—not a broad internet estimate. Ask for the out-the-door total and the work it covers before setting an annual budget. An annual figure based only on one service or package headline can be misleading because intervals, included work and package terms differ.
When are Service A and Service B due?
Mercedes-Benz India describes a schedule in which Service A and Service B alternate. The listed interval is based on whichever threshold comes first: distance or elapsed time. The manufacturer’s phrasing is that Service A is performed “at 15,000 KMs or one year, whichever comes first” and Service B “at 30,000 KMs or 2 years, whichever comes first.” These are manufacturer-published intervals, not a promise of a fixed bill at each visit.

Time matters even if annual mileage is low: the published wording says “whichever comes first,” so do not assume that a car can wait until it reaches the distance threshold. Conversely, a higher-mileage car may reach the distance trigger before the year is up. Use the service system or booklet for the specific car rather than treating the table as a complete maintenance plan for every model year.

What should the service quote include?
Ask the service partner to base the estimate on the car’s next due service, as indicated by its service system or booklet. Request line items rather than a single unexplained total. This lets you see whether the amount covers scheduled maintenance only or also includes additional recommendations, wear items or optional services.
- Scheduled maintenance: the work required for the service due now.
- Additional recommended repairs: work proposed beyond the scheduled service, identified separately so you can ask what makes it necessary and whether it is urgent.
- Wear items: any replacement work included in the estimate, shown apart from routine maintenance.
- Taxes: the tax treatment and final payable total.
- Optional items: convenience, detailing or other optional work, separated from required maintenance.
Ask the advisor to identify which items follow the vehicle’s scheduled requirement and which are recommendations made after inspection. If the scope changes after inspection, request an updated estimate before authorizing additional work. A line-item quote is also the only fair basis for comparing two offers: totals are not comparable if one includes extra work and the other does not.
For a meaningful comparison, ask whether a quoted service bill includes only the work required now or also work suggested for later. If a package is being discussed, ask the partner to show the applicable price, tax treatment and covered work in writing. A headline package figure and an individual-service estimate describe different things: one is the price of coverage under contract terms, while the other is the estimated cost of a particular visit.
How to get a reliable, vehicle-specific estimate
- Identify the vehicle. Give the service partner the model, model year, engine or powertrain, current mileage and city. Say whether it is new, used or already covered by a package. These details help the partner calculate an offer for the actual car rather than quote a generic model range.
- Confirm what is due. Ask the partner to check the service system or booklet and identify the next scheduled service. Do not assume that every car at the same mileage needs the same work.
- Request the line-item estimate. Have scheduled maintenance, additional repairs, wear items, taxes and optional services shown separately. Ask for the final total payable, not only a pre-tax subtotal.
- Ask what can change the total. Find out whether any work depends on inspection, whether the quote includes only currently required items, and whether the partner will obtain your approval before adding work.
- Compare like with like. If considering a package, request its exact term, mileage ceiling, inclusions, exclusions, tax treatment and eligibility window. Compare the package with an estimate for the same vehicle and expected work over the same period.
- Keep the offer details. Save the written estimate and package terms, including any current discount. A verbal headline price is hard to evaluate without its scope and conditions.
Is a STAR Ease package worth it?
It cannot be judged from the package name or one headline figure. The value depends on the specific offer, what it covers, and whether those costs match the work you expect to have done within its time and mileage limits. The official dealer page describes a Complete Service Package for new vehicles that covers maintenance according to the service booklet, wear-and-tear work and other repairs. It excludes accident or deliberate damage and tyres and wheels, and it directs customers to obtain an individual calculation. Do not assume every package includes the same coverage or follows identical conditions. The contract and quote determine what is covered. Before deciding, check the offer against these points:
- Coverage: Does it cover scheduled maintenance only, or also wear-and-tear work or other repairs?
- Term and mileage: How long does coverage last, and what mileage ceiling applies? Is that suitable for the car’s likely use?
- Exclusions: Confirm the treatment of tyres and wheels, accident damage and any other exclusions listed in the actual contract.
- Price basis: Is the price tax-inclusive? Does it reflect a current offer or discount?
- Overlap: Does the car already have a warranty or another package covering some of the same work?
- Eligibility: Is the vehicle eligible now, and is there a purchase window or other condition?
Compare the package’s total price with a written estimate for the same vehicle’s expected uncovered services and included wear items over the same term. A package may make spending more predictable, but the available information does not support a claim that it always saves money. If coverage, term or exclusions differ, a simple price comparison can be misleading. Ask the dealer to explain whether the package offer applies to your vehicle and to state its limits and exclusions on the quote rather than relying on a generic description.
Can mobile service or roadside assistance change the cost?
Mercedes-Benz India says Mobile Service is available through selected partners. Its cost and scope depend on the job and workshop, so ask whether it is offered in your area and whether the quoted work is the same as an authorized workshop’s estimate.
