There is no single Tesla weight: Tesla’s current U.S. specifications reviewed on October 8, 2026, list curb weights from 3,759 lb for a Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive to 5,434 lb for a Model X Plaid. The exact figure depends on the model and configuration; the table below gives the listed curb weight for each configuration.
Tesla curb weights by model and configuration
These are manufacturer-listed curb weights on Tesla’s U.S. product pages as reviewed on October 8, 2026. They are not independently measured weights, and the pages do not consistently identify the model year for each figure.
| Model | Configuration | Tesla-listed curb weight |
|---|---|---|
| Model 3 | Rear-Wheel Drive / Standard RWD | 3,759 lb |
| Model 3 | Premium AWD | 4,030 lb |
| Model 3 | Performance | 4,054 lb |
| Model Y | Standard RWD | 4,061 lb |
| Model Y | AWD | 4,246 lb |
| Model Y | Premium AWD | 4,473 lb |
| Model Y | Performance | 4,466 lb |
| Model Y | L Premium | 4,612 lb |
| Model S | Model S | 4,702 lb |
| Model S | Plaid | 4,802 lb |
| Model X | Model X | 5,152 lb |
| Model X | Plaid | 5,434 lb |
Across the configurations listed, Model 3 ranges from 3,759 to 4,054 lb; Model Y from 4,061 to 4,612 lb; Model S from 4,702 to 4,802 lb; and Model X from 5,152 to 5,434 lb. Each range describes only the configurations shown above, not every model year or Tesla on the road. Tesla says Model S and Model X are no longer in production; its pages note that pre-owned non-Signature inventory vehicles may still be available.
What Tesla means by curb weight
Tesla’s owner documentation defines curb weight as “weight of the vehicle with correct fluid levels, no occupants and no cargo.” In other words, the listed figure describes the vehicle itself under that definition, not its weight with passengers or luggage aboard. Tesla also cautions that weights are approximate and can vary depending on vehicle options.

Curb weight is not payload or maximum loaded weight
Curb weight, payload, and gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) describe different things. Curb weight is the vehicle without occupants or cargo; payload concerns the load it can carry, while GVWR is the maximum permitted loaded vehicle weight. The figures above do not establish a universal payload or GVWR comparison across Tesla models. For those limits, consult the manual or vehicle labels for the exact car and model year rather than deriving them from curb weight.

Use the configuration and model year of the car in question. The product-page figures are useful for comparing the listed trims, but they do not establish that every figure applies to every existing vehicle. For a year-specific answer, check that vehicle’s official specifications, owner documentation, or labels, and account for options that may affect weight.
