For a 2025 Toyota Prius, RepairPal’s high-voltage hybrid battery estimator lists a replacement cost of $6,079–$6,313, before taxes and fees. RepairPal says its estimate was updated September 3, 2026; it is not a Toyota list price or a guaranteed quote for your location. The actual amount depends on the diagnosis, battery type, repair route and vehicle-specific fitment.
What does “Prius battery” mean?
A Prius has two different batteries that can come up in a repair discussion:
- High-voltage (HV) hybrid battery: the large traction battery used by the hybrid system. This is the battery addressed by the $6,079–$6,313 estimate for a 2025 Prius.
- 12-volt accessory battery: a separate battery that powers vehicle electronics and helps start the car’s systems. Its replacement is a different repair and should not be confused with an HV battery quote.
Check the diagnostic report or estimate to see which battery is identified before comparing prices. Toyota’s owner information describes the Prius’s battery systems in its owner’s manual.
What the available cost figures do—and don’t—tell you
| Source and scope | Published figure | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| RepairPal, 2025 Prius HV battery estimate; page updated September 3, 2026 | $6,079–$6,313 | Model-year-specific estimator range; excludes taxes and fees and does not account for your location. It is not a guaranteed local quote or official Toyota retail price. RepairPal estimate |
| Engineer Fix, broad Prius replacement guide published in 2025 | $1,500 to over $5,000 installed; $3,500–$5,000 for a dealer-installed new OEM pack | Broad context across Prius repair routes; the guide does not establish that these amounts apply specifically to a 2025 Prius. Engineer Fix guide |
| Earthling Automotive, second-generation Prius battery pricing article, August 6, 2025 | Reports a Toyota price increase for a standard second-generation HV battery in early 2025; a comparable 2025 Prius price is not stated. | Shows that parts pricing can change, but concerns an older generation and cannot price a 2025 model. These figures should not be averaged into a single “typical” price. They cover different levels of specificity and repair scope, and none is a nationally representative survey of 2025 Prius replacements.

Why replacement quotes can differ
A quote is meaningful only when it covers the same vehicle and the same repair. An estimate for a new OEM assembly is not directly comparable with a used or remanufactured pack, a cell or module repair, or a part-only price. Labor, diagnostic charges, taxes, fees and any core charge can also change the total.
For a useful comparison, ask each shop to itemize:
- The battery diagnosis and whether the quote is for the HV pack or 12-volt battery.
- The exact model year, trim and VIN fitment.
- Whether the proposed part is new OEM, remanufactured, used, or a cell/module repair.
- Part cost, labor, diagnostic charges, taxes and other fees separately.
- Any core charge and the conditions for receiving its credit.
- The warranty on the replacement part and labor.
Check warranty coverage before paying
Toyota says that for hybrid vehicles beginning with model year 2020, the HV battery is covered for 10 years from the original date of first use or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first, subject to the applicable warranty terms. Toyota also describes an 8-year/100,000-mile warranty for hybrid-related components; the HV battery may have longer emissions-warranty coverage depending on applicable requirements. See Toyota’s hybrid warranty information and check the warranty booklet for your vehicle, including any applicable federal or California coverage.

Ask a Toyota dealer to check your VIN, in-service date and coverage eligibility before authorizing a paid replacement. Warranty coverage is subject to the terms that apply to the specific vehicle; a warning message alone does not establish that the HV battery has failed or that a replacement will be covered. Have the diagnosis confirmed by a qualified Toyota or hybrid service provider.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to get a quote you can rely on
- Confirm the diagnosis. Ask the shop to state in writing whether the issue is with the HV hybrid battery or the 12-volt accessory battery, and what testing supports the recommendation.
- Check coverage first. Give a Toyota dealer your VIN and ask it to check applicable warranty and emissions coverage before you commit to an out-of-pocket repair.
- Request an itemized estimate. Have the shop list the battery type and fitment, part source, labor, diagnostic charges, taxes, fees and any core charge or credit.
- Compare like with like. Compare estimates only when they propose the same repair scope and account for the same warranty and charges.
Toyota’s 2025 Prius announcement states that the hybrid battery warranty is 10 years/150,000 miles, whichever comes first. Read that alongside the applicable warranty booklet and Toyota’s current coverage terms when checking a specific vehicle.
