These are model- and trim-specific resale estimates—not a nationwide range of dealer asking prices or a guaranteed price for an individual vehicle. The right figure depends on the exact trim, mileage, condition, location and type of sale.
2025 Highlander resale estimates by trim
The table shows Kelley Blue Book (KBB) one-year depreciation-page figures reported in 2026 for named 2025-model-year trims. “Resale” is the reported resale estimate; it is not interchangeable with trade-in value, Fair Purchase Price or a dealer’s listing price. KBB did not report every measure for every trim in the cited figures.

These are KBB’s estimates as reported in 2026, not observed prices for every used Highlander or a promise of what a seller will receive. For example, the cited LE page showed condition-based values for San Antonio ZIP code 78201 valid through September 17, 2026, while the XLE page used Des Moines ZIP code 50301 values valid through October 1, 2026. That locality and validity-date detail is one reason not to treat a trim-level estimate as a universal quote.
What “worth” or “cost” means in a used-car search
Several different figures can appear for the same vehicle. Compare like with like before deciding whether a particular 2025 Highlander is fairly priced.

- Dealer asking price: the seller’s listed price. Compare it with similar local dealer listings, then account for taxes, registration, dealer fees, add-ons and financing to estimate the out-the-door total.
- Fair Purchase Price: KBB’s estimate based on collected consumer purchase prices, registration databases and other third-party sources. It is a different measure from the resale estimate in the table.
- Private-party estimate: a guide value for a private-party transaction, not a dealer’s asking price or a guaranteed offer.
- Trade-in estimate: a guide to the vehicle’s value as a trade-in. A dealer’s actual offer may differ; compare it with the trade-in figure, not with a resale estimate.
For example, KBB’s cited 2025 LE page showed a $39,340 Fair Purchase Price alongside the $36,800 resale estimate and $33,700 trade-in estimate. Those numbers answer different questions, so none should be substituted for another without checking what it represents.
Why two one-year-old Highlanders can have different prices
Powertrain and trim
Toyota’s 2025 lineup includes gas LE, XLE, XSE, Limited and Platinum trims, as well as Hybrid XLE, Hybrid XLE Nightshade, Hybrid Limited, Hybrid Limited 25th Edition and Hybrid Platinum. The estimates above show meaningful differences by trim and powertrain, but they do not provide a value for every version in Toyota’s lineup. Do not assume an unlisted trim has the same value as a trim with a similar name.

Mileage, condition and equipment
A trim-level guide value does not tell you what a specific example is worth without details such as mileage, condition, drivetrain and equipment. Use the vehicle’s actual configuration and condition when seeking a valuation, and inspect the specific car rather than relying on a model-year estimate alone.
Location and transaction type
Local market conditions can change the relevant comparison. KBB cautions that depreciation estimates are not guarantees and may vary with local weather, market factors and driver performance. Its ZIP- and condition-based values also illustrate why a national headline figure cannot precisely price an individual car.

How to check whether a specific 2025 Highlander is fairly priced
- Identify the exact vehicle: confirm gas or hybrid, trim, mileage, condition, drivetrain and equipment.
- Choose the right comparison: compare a dealer’s asking price with local listings or a Fair Purchase Price; compare a private-party offer with a private-party estimate; compare a trade-in offer with a trade-in estimate.
- Use a current local valuation: enter the vehicle details and ZIP code in a valuation source. Treat any estimate as a guide tied to its stated date and assumptions.
- Calculate the full purchase cost: add taxes, registration, dealer fees and any add-ons to the asking price. Consider financing costs separately rather than treating them as part of the vehicle’s value.
- Evaluate the individual car: verify its condition and equipment and compare it with genuinely similar vehicles in the same market.
How much does a Highlander depreciate in one year?
For the cited 2025 gas trims, KBB’s 2026 depreciation pages report one-year depreciation ranging from $6,420 (13%) for the XLE to $8,990 (18%) for the XSE. Among the cited hybrids with a reported depreciation figure, the range is $6,425 (11%) for the Hybrid Platinum to $8,230 (15%) for the Hybrid Limited 25th Edition. KBB did not state a one-year depreciation figure for the Hybrid XLE in the supplied estimate. These are estimates, not a prediction of the loss on every vehicle.

Toyota’s 2025 model page lists starting MSRPs from $40,320 for the gas LE to $54,475 for the Hybrid Platinum. Those are manufacturer-published new-car starting prices for model-year context; they are not the current value or asking price of a one-year-old Highlander. Toyota also describes seating for up to eight and lists estimated fuel economy by model, but neither fact determines the value of a particular used example.
