What did FedEx order, and how much could it save?
Harbinger announced on October 1, 2026, that FedEx ordered 2,000 of its all-electric trucks in a deal valued at more than $300 million. Harbinger says the fleet could generate approximately $40 million in annual fuel savings and $800 million over a typical 20-year vehicle life, assuming the trucks are deployed as a single fleet in North America. The $800 million is a projected cumulative figure across the assumed service life, not an upfront saving. The $40 million annual estimate multiplied by 20 years equals $800 million, but the announcement does not establish that FedEx will realize those savings in practice.
Why these figures are projections, not confirmed savings
Harbinger is the source of both savings estimates. FedEx has not reported that it has already saved these amounts from this order, and the available announcement does not provide an independent verification. Nor does the fuel estimate establish the order’s net financial benefit: it does not, by itself, account for the trucks’ purchase and financing costs, electricity, charging infrastructure, maintenance or other operating expenses.

How the order fits FedEx’s wider EV fleet

That filing also says FedEx is reassessing the pace and scale of purchases against its previously stated 2030 EV purchase-order goal as Network 2.0 progresses. The filing does not say that the company has abandoned that goal; it signals that the pace and scale are under review.

Charging and fleet goals remain important context
FedEx describes charging infrastructure for a commercial fleet of trucks, vans and other vehicles as complex, and says it is forecasting the energy needed to support EV infrastructure.
