McLaren’s Woking campus has two distinct roles: the McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) is its technology and headquarters environment, while the adjacent McLaren Production Centre (MPC) houses the road-car assembly line. McLaren describes that work as hand assembly supported by technology and reports that 22 cars emerge from MPC each day. Its announced 2026 HQ Tour, however, covers key public areas and does not promise access to the production line.
What happens at the MTC—and what happens at the MPC?
The names are easy to conflate, but the buildings serve different purposes. McLaren presents the MTC as its technology and headquarters setting, associated with the company’s people, history, cars and engineering. The road-car production line is in the neighboring MPC, not the MTC. McLaren’s overview of its Woking home distinguishes the two facilities.

This distinction matters for visitors: an experience at McLaren HQ is not automatically a tour of the building where cars are assembled.
How McLaren says its cars are assembled
McLaren describes the MPC as a clean, white building measuring 200 metres by 100 metres, with a production line that winds through the interior. The company says a multi-talented team hand-assembles each car with assistance from current technology. It reports that 22 McLarens emerge from the facility per day. That is McLaren’s company-reported figure; the company page does not provide an independent audit or a measurement period for it.

The description presents assembly as skilled manual work supported by technology—not as a claim that the cars are built entirely by hand or entirely by automated machinery. McLaren’s public overview does not detail specific assembly stations, staffing levels, cycle times or model-by-model differences.
How aerodynamic development shapes a McLaren
McLaren says its wind tunnel helps engineers study how air interacts with a car’s body and informs the shape of every car. The company identifies two broad goals: increasing downforce to support grip and stability, and reducing drag to aid acceleration.

The published overview explains those objectives but does not give test protocols, measured aerodynamic values or results for individual models. It therefore supports a description of the wind tunnel’s role in development, not a numerical comparison of how much downforce or drag a particular car gains.
What the announced MTC tour includes
McLaren Racing listed a two-hour McLaren HQ Tour for 18 October 2026. Its event page describes expert hosts, light refreshments and a route through key public areas. The listed £150 tickets were sold out, and the page says more dates will be released without giving a confirmed schedule. The event description does not state that visitors enter the MPC or see the active production line. It should be understood as an HQ experience, not a factory-floor tour. The one listed date and its price establish the details of that event only; they do not establish a permanent public tour programme.
