There is no mileage at which every Lexus should be expected to fail or be replaced. In iSeeCars’ 2026 study, a Lexus had an estimated 14.4% chance of reaching 250,000 miles, compared with 5.4% for vehicles overall. Those are population-level estimates, not promises about an individual car; the odds also differ by model.
How many miles can a Lexus last?
The 2026 iSeeCars study estimates that 14.4% of Lexus vehicles reach 250,000 miles. The study analyzed data from more than 395 million vehicles overall, not that many Lexus vehicles. Its estimate indicates Lexus performs better than the overall vehicle average, but reaching 250,000 miles remains uncommon even in the brand’s results. iSeeCars Executive Analyst Karl Brauer said, “Reaching 250,000 miles is still far from typical, with the average vehicle having just a 5.4% chance of getting there.” See iSeeCars’ 2026 longest-lasting cars study.
A percentage chance of reaching a mileage threshold is not a service-life guarantee, warranty, or prediction for a particular used car. It describes a modeled likelihood across vehicles in the study; it does not establish a safe replacement mileage for every Lexus.
How do Lexus models compare at 250,000 miles?
Using the same 2026 iSeeCars study and the same 250,000-mile threshold, estimates vary across Lexus models:

#1 Best Overall
| Model | Estimated chance of reaching 250,000 miles |
|---|---|
| Lexus LS | 38.8% |
| Lexus RX hybrid | 28.9% |
| Lexus GX | 23.3% |
| Lexus IS | 17.5% |
These are modeled probabilities, not guarantees. They also should not be treated as a ranking of every model year or individual vehicle: condition and maintenance history are not interchangeable across cars. iSeeCars’ study explains its 250,000-mile estimates.
What do average lifespan estimates mean?
iSeeCars’ 2026 model reliability pages give separate average-lifespan estimates for two specific models:
Rank #2
| Model | Estimated average lifespan |
|---|---|
| Lexus GX 460 | 204,854 miles and about 16.8 years |
| Lexus LS 460 | 228,218 miles and about 25 years |
These are proprietary statistical estimates for the named models, not a promised minimum, deadline, or forecast for a particular car. They measure something different from the 2026 study’s estimated chance of crossing 250,000 miles, so the figures should not be compared as if they were the same statistic. See the Lexus GX 460 estimate and the Lexus LS 460 estimate.
What matters when deciding whether a used Lexus has life left?
A brand-level probability cannot tell you how much life remains in a specific car. For a used Lexus, assess the actual vehicle rather than relying on one mileage cutoff:

- Service records: Look for evidence that scheduled maintenance and inspections were completed, not just a seller’s assurance.
- Current condition: Have the vehicle inspected by a qualified mechanic who can assess its mechanical state and identify work it may need.
- Model and year: Do not apply one model’s study estimate to a different Lexus, model year, or powertrain.
- Expected repair needs: Weigh known or likely repairs against the car’s condition and your ownership plans; mileage alone does not answer that question.
The sources cited here do not establish a universal mileage at which a Lexus should be rejected or replaced.

Lexus says maintenance frequency depends on the vehicle, driving conditions, and other factors. Follow the maintenance guide for the exact year and model rather than applying one schedule to every Lexus. Lexus also says scheduled inspections are needed for gasoline vehicles and EVs. Find the appropriate guide through the vehicle’s manual or Lexus’ maintenance guidance.

Pay attention to small changes instead of assuming they are harmless. Lexus highlights symptoms such as a squeak, a puddle, or an air conditioner that is not cooling properly as possible early signs of a problem. Joe Clarke, manager of Service Operations at Toyota Motor North America, advises: “Catching these issues early can often help prevent a bigger, more expensive repair later.” Have notable symptoms assessed so a technician can determine what is wrong; no fixed mileage benefit can be inferred from that advice.
